No sound when entering a Meeting on Teams

Hello,

I have observed on numerous occasions that when I enter a Meeting on the Microsoft Teams Windows app (with my Mic and Camera off, because it is university related and someone else is presenting) I can't hear anything. It doesn't happen all the time. I have tried entering the Meeting again and sometimes it works and I can hear. I have also opened the Volume mixer and that was not the issue (the Meeting was note muted). I even tried reinstalling the App. This only happens in a Meeting, not a private call with someone else and only on the Windows app, not the browser. I would like to use the App though, so does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thank you in advance!

I've had an issue where I join calls, Teams would crash my audio and I would get messages in the Teams call that Teams could not detect my audio or mic. I would have to quit Teams and sometimes restart my computer in order to restore my audio after Teams crashed my drivers. I recently found that I could run 2 commands from an admin Powershell or command prompt WITHOUT having to quit my Teams call:

    net stop audiosrv

    then

    net start audiosrv

After the service started back up, Teams automatically detected my mic/speakers and I could hear and talk in the call.

Appears this problem was identified in 2020, and persists today. I've looked across the 9 pages of chat for a solution and have not found anything from MS. Did I miss it?

    Hi,

i have almost the same issue with another background. I was using Windows 10 a long time and used also Teams (for small business) - everything was fine. As soon as i upgraded to Windows 11 i got this bug when i join any meeting. All sounds turn off, even music that is currently running in my browser. Uninstalling and Installing Teams again fixed it for the day but on the next day the same issue appears again.

I also have another Teams for my private 365 and that does not have that issue. I can also join through the browser application and do not have that issue. Only the desktop application for Teams (small business) has this issue. As i said, the same setup excect OS version worked fine for a long time, the upgrade to Windows 11 broke it.

    In short:

    • I'm using a bluetooth Headset (Sennheiser HD 350BT) with a bluetooth usb device.
    • The headset is connected for music
    • My Headphones are silent as soon as i join a meeting (even with only myself).
    • In windows sound settings i can still see there is playing something on my headphones
    • As soon as i leave the meeting, i can hear everything again.
    • The headphones have "hands-free" mode but i don't (want to) use it.
    • Only happening on Teams for small business since update of Windows 10 to Windows 11

    Best regards

    Maik

    Hello,

I have been experiencing the same issue. There seems to be no (easy) solution that you can count on. I have no problems with other applications, sounds of notifications of the computer or several other video-calling applications and web clients.

What I do to solve this is clicking the telephone button in the meeting, selecting the dial-in number from my country and logging in to the meeting. This way, I can use my phone as speaker and microphone. This is not a free call so this is a good solution if you have a company phone.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
