Recent update to Teams causes beeping in headset when on mute

Been using Teams since the start of lockdown with a headset. As of today I am getting a double-beep at about five second intervals (like a hold beep) in the headset when I am muted. This has not happened before and been using same headset for months.

Also note that when I mute / unmute in Teams, the headset now announces "mute on" and "mute off" to me.

This feels like a Teams update has created this "feature" - please turn it off!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Works! I can't believe it! The Setting is in Teams.

    Same issue started for me today after 2 years of pandemic use. I'm using a Soul BT Headset with the MS teams application and while muted I get the periodic beep. To top it off the "Mute On", "Mute Off" notification in the headset is quite loud each time toggle the mic setting in Teams.

    I can find no option to revert this function in Teams.

    Same here. Using Shokz OpenComms. I have never had any issue like this. Zoom works fine, it's just Teams, and just updated to 1.5.00.10286

    The annoying beep issue came back... To make matters worse, my previous workaround to mute/unmute from device setting does not work. I had to come up with an even more elaborate workaround this time.... Anyways, here it is.

    1. Right-click the sound icon on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Select Sounds => Headset => Properties=>Levels. You will find mute/unmute button there.
    3. The mute button in #2 is synchronized with MS Teams EXCEPT for 1 condition below.

                    Mute microphone in Teams then unmute the button found in #2.

    1. You hear “Mute off” from your Aftershokz but your microphone is still muted in MS Teams.

    You should keep "Sounds" window open while in Teams meeting so that you can mute your microphone in Teams and stop the beep using the Sounds window. A 2-click solution isn't great, but it is at least better than loud 2 beeps every 10sec!

    The situation is really strange.....sometimes i have this beeping after every call and i have to shut off my headset and start again. But sometimes, the beeping didn´t comes up for some time....and if think "now they have solved", the issue is back. Maybe i do from time to time something different in ending up a call/meeting so that this issue doesn´t comes up, but i cannot verify how.....

    Same headset and issue here.... Seems I found how to go around this annoying issue. I do not connect directly to the PC Bluetooth, I use a dongle from other headset as my PC is very stuttery with BT audio devices. Dongle works better for calls, but I still had the same beep when using it with the aftershokz opencomm. Using the dongle software (I found that a Jabra dongle worked best) I went to the dongle settings and under softphone I disabled the softphone integration. So audio still works but you disable the call control from the headset (I would rather have it this way vs the annoying beep when on mute)
