TEAMS - mute by default when entering a meeting

Microsoft project managers and developers love all this drama. It is the reason they don't add something that is so simple and straightforward.

They need this attention.

It is amazing how inflexible and inattentive Microsoft can be. When they "simplified" Skype, removing a ton of useful features, I thought, "Oh well, they'll add them back based on user feedback." Boy was I wrong.

Is it really THAT HARD to add an option to your settings menu or simply a "make this my default" checkbox next to the existing slider on the Join page? It's quite a statement about the Tools and Architecture Microsoft used for Teams if this can't be done in half an hour.

I remember some book in the eighties that gushed about Microsoft's advanced quality control: Developers handed floppy disks through a window and another team inspected and applied the changes. GUYS! REPLACE THE WINDOW!

+1. Really important feature to add, especially when joining meetings on the road. You don't have time or presence of mind to check whether your mic is on/off, so why can't the user always join meetings with camera/mic off and they can turn them on when they need to.

Googled the issue, found this thread. This is terrible UX and mind-blowing that it still hasn't been addressed.

To echo what everyone else here says, there should be a default.

In my case, though, I want the opposite. I want to never be muted starting a call. Someone said "I don't see any reason why people wouldn't be auto-muted every time they join any meeting". I work in a quiet environment with a fantastic noise-cancelling headset. I very rarely attend a meeting in which I am not an active participant. So I have no reason to be automatically muted. Ever.
