Additional meeting and call-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
The absence of this option is disappointing.
It's been years and over a thousand complaints about it's absence.
But Microsoft have done nothing.

Can you mute by default whenever you enter a TEAMS meeting? I know this option is available in WebEx, but can't seem to find it in the settings in TEAMS.

Teams really sucks at responding to basic feature requests
Dear Microsoft, This is the biggest issue I have with Teams: Users should be able to set their own default to mute when joining a meeting. If you are muted when you think you are not, it is slightly embarrassing, but doesn't disrupt the whole meeting. If you are not muted when you think you are, it can be really embarrassing and it interrupts the entire meeting. Every Teams meeting I am on, at least once per meeting someone is not muted who thinks that they are and it disrupts the meeting. Webex lets you set your own configuration to mute when you join a meeting. MS Teams has a fundamental flaw that needs to be fixed. Why would you not give users this option???
I have a recurring morning meeting and I am often busy and caught on a hot mic because I forget to click mute before I join. Dozens of bigshots on the call and I occasionally get caught using profanity. It would be wonderful if the default was mute or at least be prompted before you joined.
Indeed. Also should be a setting that can be put in Active Directory / Azure AD group policies.
We always have 3-4 people on meetings with 100+ people who join unmuted and kids scream or they are speaking with others in their room etc.
