Teams: Starts and shows Continue button that does nothing

Hi,

I just installed the Microsoft Teams desktop app. When I start it, it says "Welcome to Teams!", offers me a pulldown choice of "Personal", and a button "Continue". Clicking Continue does nothing. What do I do to start using Teams?

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

To give you the background that MS Team free comes in two variants.

  1. MS, Team free personal account(accessible from mobile/web app https://teams.live.com). You don't need to sign for this as it comes with all Microsoft account

It looks like you got the MS teams personal on the Desktop app early to release on your device, but it has not yet worked completely.

I'd suggest waiting for Microsft announcement on MS Teams personal life launch that schedule to release soon this month.

    16th of June, 2022, and this issue is still around. I tried all suggested method in the comments, and still nothing. Tried reinstalling, resetting password, logging in another account, nothing. Microsoft Teams just refuses to work in my PC.

    So, its June 2021 and the desktop personal app still has a Continue button without any functionality. Words fail me.

    I log out, log back in, put in the password. It then asks for my phone number which, once I supply it says "This phone number has already been taken. Sign in with that number or use a different one" Taken? It can't be taken, its mine! How many phone does Microsoft require me to have?

    "We're sorry - we've run into an issue" [Restart] "If that doesn't work, try signing out and back in again.

    OK let's try logging in with a different account and this time I will enter my mobile telephone number instead of my email account (username). Let's see what that does. ENTER phone. Enter OK. "We'll send a sign-in request to your phone to sign in with telephone xxxxx-xxxxxxx OK. I expect an SMS, but nothing arrives. So click "Send notification again" and this time it arrives inside my mobile app 'Microsoft authenticator' I then have to choose from a chopice of 3 numbers to match the one showing on my desktop. Once matched, it approved and opens up teams.

    Welcome to Teams! Success.

    Its a lot of faffing about, though.
