Aftershokz headset alerting me that my Teams call is muted

In short, no matter how I try to mute my mic, the headset tells me mute is on and double-beeps every few seconds. It happens if I mute the call, mute in call settings, or even if I simply mute in my laptop's sound settings.

Teams does NOT alert me that I'm muted if I use a different headset or no headset -- only using the Aftershokz headset. This is an Aftershokz problem, not a Teams problem, but Aftershokz tech support has been unhelpful. I'm hoping someone here has a workaround.

This problem cropped up last fall, went away, and now is back.

    I have the OpenComm headset and found a reddit thread with the fix for me.

    Join the call, Mute in Teams, and then hold the Volume + and - button at the same time for 2 seconds.

    This causes Teams to mute, but unmutes the headset itself.

    The "mute chime" is by far the stupidest feature of these headset.

    Makes 0 sense in a modern age of mute discipline on calls.

    With your aftershokz headset, press and hold the volume+ and volume- buttons simultaneously for two seconds while on a call with the mic muted. Audrey will say “Mute Off.”

    I found a way to fix it. The laptop I'm using has a "mute" button on the keyboard [F4], and when I click mute in MS TEAMS, the light in [F4] also turns on and I hear a beep in my AfterShokz headphone. I just pressed [F4] to turn off the computer's mute function and the beeps went away. Don't worry, when you press [F4] to unmute, MS TEAMS is still in mute mode, but when you unmute MS TEAMS for speaking and then mute it again, you must press [F4] again.

    This is a short term solution. I think the problem is that the MS TEAMS feature not only mutes the app, but also the computer microphone system, if MS TEAMS could separate this connection for the mute function, all of us wouldn't be bothered by the beep, and no need to [F4] every time.

    This works. Only in my case this option is called 'Microphone Array (Realtek (R) Audio).

    I am also using Aftershockz and the problem appears to be with a recent update to the Teams desktop software as this wasn't always the case until recently. I would like to know if anyone else gets this fixed or will we have to wait for a software update?
