Black screen camera on Microsoft Teams desktop app

Today I had a meeting where I needed my camera turned on but it wasn't working. I checked the preview of the camera and it shows only black screen.

I've tried anything I could to resolve the problem ( check for privacy settings, update camera drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the camera device , uninstalled and reinstalled teams, reboot the laptop multiple times ). The camera works on any other app except MT desktop app. It also doesn't let me do the screen share thing.

Any help? I really need it solved so I can be able to take my exams.

I'm also on a MacBook Pro with the built-in FaceTime HD camera.

Black screen for me since a week and a half or so, think it might be related with OS.

Camera works in every other app and Camera settings.

Exact same issue here, same device. None of the mentioned solutions solve the issue.

I ended up opening a service ticket with O365 support. I gave them a detailed breakdown of my troubleshooting steps and I made a stupid mistake..... I told them that I was only experiencing that issue with a specific Windows profile on that machine and they instantly decided to "drop the ball" telling me it "probably" was an OS issue (predictable) and that I needed to rebuild the user profile. Teams installs are user-based....OF COURSE IT'S A PROFILE ISSUE! I wasn't much from Microsoft support given my past experiences, but it's still very dissapointing.

I guess I won't have a choice but to rebuild the user profile.....which might end up taking less time than investigating further, but gives me absolutely no guarantee that I will not encounter this problem again in the future. Thanks for your input!

    Good luck Stefania! :)

I was able to resolve this without needing to reload the user profile by removing the camera driver in device manager. Remove with the box unchecked to delete the driver just uninstall only. Go to Action at the top and Scan for hardware changes. After the camera is displayed again in device manager, try signing out of Teams sign back in again and test the camera.

No luck......but after investigating, I found out that the issue only occurs in a particular user profile. I'm still trying to figure out how to solve it without destroying the user profile because it would be like killing a fly with a bazooka and I still want to understand why and how this is happening to make sure other users won't encounter the same issue in the future.
