2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5008215) FAILS to install.

I cannot even install this update and it fails to install every time I attempt downloading this update. I get this error message every time I try to update, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712).

I have tried everything to resolve it and nothing has worked. I have run SFC, DISM, DSCK, tried to repair my system files, run the windows update trouble shooter and the problem continues to persist.

    Hi,

    I'm also having the issue of not being able to install '2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5008215)' which I believe is also linked to (OS Build 22000.376), I'm currently running Windows 11 Pro build (22000.318), so I am not on the most current version, despite Windows update saying there are no updates. If I remember correctly the update for the new build came through, downloaded, installed and prompted me to restart just fine. I then continued to use my PC and thought I'd just check Windows update again to see if there were anything new, and it told me I was not on the newest version of the insider build.

    Like many others on here, I have tried various troubleshooting methods such as DISM, SFC etc. With the (KB5008215) update installation I have received the error code '0xc1900401', upon looking on Google for help, I found this: How to fix Error 0xc1900401 - Microsoft Community. Unfortunately, following this didn't help me at all.

    I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

    Good news everyone!!

    I got mine fixed. As it turns out the root cause of the performance issue was a1.5Ghz processor throttled back to 0.19Ghz. Of course, I didn't think to check that until I was on my third attempt at re-installing the OS. (all the hardware diags passed) It was clearly the resultant performance issues that would cause any attempt to download, uninstall or reinstall anything to error out.

    Apparently, some corruption occurs in power management which prevents the processor from being returned to its normal operating state after whatever event caused it to be throttled back.

    The fix? As simple as disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, plug everything back together and restart.

    Whether this condition is unique to Dell or was actually caused by the Win 11 update, I can't say. But I do find it a little odd that on the Wednesday morning after Patch Tuesday, I experience an unrelated hardware problem that precisely replicates the one caused by the latest Windows update. Wish I could play those kinds of odds at the casino. Happy Holiday Season to all!!

    Then retry the update. Hopefully it goes through. Mind took a bit longer to complete than I would have expected. I think it hung on 10% for a while then again in the 70s I believe as well.
