I cannot even install this update and it fails to install every time I attempt downloading this update. I get this error message every time I try to update, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712).

I have tried everything to resolve it and nothing has worked. I have run SFC, DISM, DSCK, tried to repair my system files, run the windows update trouble shooter and the problem continues to persist.

Thanks Jim Palm for this suggestion, and I will give it a go tomorrow, being Christmas and all that. Also, 44 degrees C here in Perth and who can do anything in that sort of heat ha ha! Merry Christmas

Thanks for the alternative solution to this issue. I tried it tonight and unfortunately it did not work for me, and I had the same issue of the automatic rolling back the update as there was a problem. I do however acknowledge what you say that individual computers can have other factors that would resist your solution, so it might work for others. Where is Microsoft in all this - why hasn't this update been reviewed and changed? I am now having to turn off updates, which will make my computer more vunerable.

It could in theory be as Jim Palm suggests and for all but then everyone here would have some issue with the download getting messed up. Just doing a manual download of it from the catalog should work in that case and be easier for everyone.

It probably won't work for everyone is my assumption since they will always have issues with updates to varying computers but as I also suggested, its another way of trying to update it. If it doesn't work then wait. Or just wait now lol :-)

Thanks for the information. I had never used those cmd options before this, I was trying to do my best troubleshooting (ooops!)

I'll pause and wait as you suggested.
