Does it say which file is open
2021-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5008215) FAILS to install.
I cannot even install this update and it fails to install every time I attempt downloading this update. I get this error message every time I try to update, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712).
I have tried everything to resolve it and nothing has worked. I have run SFC, DISM, DSCK, tried to repair my system files, run the windows update trouble shooter and the problem continues to persist.

2021-12-25T10:09:54+00:00 Thanks for what worked for you. I followed your instructions, but one file refused to delete saying it was open in another process. So that's probably the root cause for my problem, but I don't know how to fix it. I thought rebooting would turn off whatever is running but it didn't help.

2021-12-25T03:19:03+00:00 Sorry Jim Palm, I thought your solution worked, but Windows 11 updater has just tried to install this again, after what I thought was a successful update of this KB file. Once again it rolled back the update as 'something went wrong'. The quest to resolve this continues.

2021-12-24T08:43:22+00:00 Same. Until Wednesday morning (22 DEC 21) I was quite happy with my Windows 11 performance. That morning my Dell laptop was suddenly painfully slow. But the weird thing even though it was performing like a 28k modem, (about 40 seconds for the Edge startup page to load) resource usage was actually very low. Processor about 13%, memory 15%, disk around 1%. I have the latest BIOS, and hardware diagnostics all pass. Made sure all the drivers were the latest.
After much troubleshooting and experimenting, I gave up and re-installed Win 11. That didn't help at all, even the fresh reinstall is slow.
KB4023057 is the only "Quality Update" installed and Update says that's the latest. Attempting to download the KB5008215 update returns the error "windows10.0-kb5008215-x64_8b19785f2a319bd716c6cee9fbf345cf19f6941b.msu can't be downloaded securely"
The download is "C:\Users\*****\Downloads\Unconfirmed 73655.crdownload", file size 225,829KB.
And am I correct that Win 11 has removed the ability to rollback to a previous restore point?
Going back to 10.
