Windows 11/Battery dead and not charging

Experiencing the same issue on a Acer Aspire... battery drained but does not charge up anymore after installing Windows 11. It is 100% obvious this is a Windows 11 upgrade issue. After displaying 'Upgrade to Windows 11 is available and its free' ... I am sure it use to say your Computer will run Windows 11 or something similar. The other issue is Acer and other manufactures like HP who have had ample time to come up with driver updates to suit have failed their customers.

Anyway, am within the ten day period and am going to have to roll it back to Windows 10 (I hope that is not the next thing that fails in Windows 11)

1. Battery wont charge and laptop will only run on AC.
2. Bluetooth fails to pair up.
3. Sound volume has halved.

And that's all within the first week haha

It sounds simple doesn’t it? Except for the following reasons:

1. we cannot just run the laptop using a different operating system. It is not easy to fully load a new operating system onto a laptop and would result in many many hours of work.
2. the laptop did come with windows 11 from the manufacturer/supplier and they are working with me on this. They have spent many hours running tests etc (also to great inconvenience). Yes they will replace etc if needed, but if this issue is windows 11 then no new laptop will be better as all are moving now to windows 11.
3. if I wanted a plug in machine, I would have bought a much more powerful desktop machine. We need a laptop for school and they do not allow students to plug in their devices - it needs to last the day. It is a brand new machine and it is not unreasonable to expect that the battery will charge and last.

Please don’t reply to this post unless you have sensible advice as to how to rectify this. Mostly I just want it on record so that Microsoft can see that people have issues and will focus on fixing this problem.

There is a very simple test ladies and gentlemen. Shut you cputer down power up while holding down normally the f2 button (may vary by vendor). This will enter the BIOS. The underlying software that keeps order of the hardware on the main board. This is software that runs before the operating system is loaded. Do ensure you have it plugged in. There is normally a battery indicator in there that will show you if its plugged in. Wait and see if power increases over a little time if so and it can reach 100 percentthen you know your battery is not bricked and its the operating system. If it charges exit the BIOS without saving any changes. Try not to tinker with the setting in there. Anyway mine WILL charge at the BIOS level but only 58 percent within Windows 11. So I know it's the operating system. Try it and let me know if it works. Good luck!

I just developed a similar issue over the past week. Initially, when I upgraded (straight away) the power problem was an issue. Then I updated Windows and I was fine. But this week, the computer would charge for a brief period and then shut off. If I unplugged and plugged it in again, the charging would begin again. I did the following:

• Reset the battery, the equivalent of taking it out, waiting and putting it back in again
• Updated Windows as much as I could
• I uninstalled and reinstalled the A/C charging driver
• I changed the battery settings back to default (as I had just changed them)
• I closed all windows and saved all my work - I normally let the computer sleep whilst charging and reopen it to recommence work rather than shutting down. I then shut the computer down, allowed it to cool the battery and didn't use it for 2 days

Finally, I went to acer, installed the BIOS update literally for "Fix AC charge ignore bit. 2. Support Elantec Touchpad SP4WIP3M" . At first, this didn't work, then I shut down and restarted my computer again, and it worked!!

In order to get it to charge enough, I would shut it down or put it in sleep mode and then let it charge overnight like you did, even though it would stop charging halfway through. Quite honestly, I think Microsoft has done a terrible job of communicating exact requirements for computer drivers for running Windows 11. When I phoned Acer, they basically told me to contact Microsoft or take it to the shop I bought it from, so it's not like they are blameless - the Acer care centre app did not give any updates or advice on this issue. The Acer Community have been somewhat helpful in the initial stages.

I wonder if Microsoft could explain exactly why the ability of a computer to charge and regulate battery levels is affected by the operating system? Seems dubious to me.

why my laptop is showing that if i keep to normal switch board also it is showing ac adaptor why it is happening and it is being in 0 % charging only this is after my anti virus expiry and on february 1 my anti virus was expired and on february 8th i done an update in evening when i opened my laptop it was showing me 3% i charged my laptop there was a light after charging point in it was not glowing and charging became 1% it is showing ac adapter but before that also i will keep to that switch borad only what is the solution for this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee give me any response 😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌
