High ram usage while idle on a windows 11 pc

Are you saying that by default Windows 11 is using available RAM (even if it seems higher than it should be) because it is available and not currently being used by other programs or background processes... and then, it uses less for those same processes when other (priority) programs are running? It seems counter intuitive when I read that my 16GB of RAM has only 5GB of available RAM to believe that more will become available as needed... but I can understand it, IF that is indeed happening. However, I would also argue that Windows simply shouldnt need 5-10GB of RAM to maintain background processes in the first place - and this seems like an unintentional (to be fixed) problem with the OS or an intentional (wont be fixed) decision that will just push users to buy more RAM. Either way, I am not happy with seeing these results in my RAM use leaving 16GB feeling inadequate.

I also had same problem, windows 10 was just taking 2.4 GB RAM just to startup, looks like windows 11 required 4.2 GB RAM. I was unable to use my laptop for more then 1 week because just had 8 GB RAM, so added one more stick of 8GB RAM to total 16 GB for doing same multi-tasking that i could do on windows 10 with 8GB RAM. Looks like windows 11 user interface uses so much memory, or it contains so many bots or Microsoft services in background. I just wanted to use windows 11, but mostly for longer battery life and memory i used it with dual booted with ubuntu. windows 11 also just half my battery life, which was around 8 hours on full charge now dropped to 5 hours. Or may be it was Asus software's and services and drivers they provide are doing this problems on windows 11.

I have the same problem as most here; starting up idle will be at about 50% memory usage (16gb ram). Even after I tried all the tips I've seen here and other places, it's still at about 40% at clean startup, with the processes not adding up properly in the Activity monitor. In RamMap, processes add upp to the same thing as in Acitivity monitor, but Mapped File, Nonmanaged Pool, System PTE, Paged Pool, Sharable, Driver Lock, etc will add up to almost 4gb of of active memory usage. I have too little experience troubleshooting memory issues to know what to look for at this point in time.

Starting edge with a few tabs, visual studio and other necessary tools will put me at 97% memory usage and that will make it slow as hell to work.

I was having the same problem but online I searched that how to reduce the usage of windows 🪟 11. I read an article and it said open System Configuration. Then go to services and hide all Microsoft services then click disable all and apply and ok then restart your pc it went from 69% to 41%
