Windows 11 Screensaver / Display Sleep functions not working

A few weeks ago, I can't remember exactly when it occurred (May have been after installing W11) my screensaver and display sleep functions just completely stopped working. I have tried every trick in the book. I have updated my BIOS and chipset drivers. Powercfg -requests shows an audio stream running from realtek, I tried overriding it but didn't solve anything. I confirmed every power option setting is correctly enabled. Basically I've spent extensive time googling and troubleshooting this to no avail.

The one thing that did fix it was running the DISM restore commands in CMD Prompt, however, it only works temporarily for the initial reboot after running that command, and then it stops working again if I reboot a 2nd time.

What can I do to fix this problem?

    Thanks Mathew, your post inspired me.
    It also works for me with I remove the mouse dongle, but obviously that's not so practical.

    I looked at the mouse settings in the device manager and Allow this device to wake the computer was already unchecked, so I searched again in Bing and found the following command:
    powercfg -devicequery wake_armed (run as admin)

    This showed me 2 USB Root Routers.

    I went into the device manager and unchecked Allow this device to wake the computer for both of them and even after a reboot it seems to work.

    My laptop now sleeps like a baby

    Strange, I have not had an issue with Steam preventing my computer from sleeping or turning off the monitors. Windows 11 build 22621.2715

    I gave up. Screen saver and power options have not worked since upgrading to Windows 11 a year ago.

    Ok. I was the one that found that Stream was keeping my screen saver from working. I came home the other day, shook my mouse to wake up my computer and I had a notice that my computer had restarted due to an update received. I checked and stream was running. Everything was running with the restart. And my screen saver is operating like it should.

    Could MS have actually done something? This happened 2 days ago and still going fine.

    Although, I still think this is a fluke. Gonna keep an eye on it. Again.

    Well, me again. My screensaver worked like a charm for about 2 days.. Now it's dead again. Turned off Steam and 2 minutes later, I have my screensaver followed by 1 minute later, power off to the monitor.

    Why is this such a problem??

    Windows 11 deactivation of code for

    • Screen Saver
    • Sleep function

    They work only right after Windows 11 update from Microsoft

    *Currently, screen saver & sleep function working as of Windows 11 update 11-16-23

    The first reboot after the update, screen saver & sleep function codes are deactivated and will not work.

    This pattern has repeated from before my Windows 11 upgrade in June 2023 and continues to today 11-16-23.

    Anyone else experiencing this pattern?
