How to Cancel Windows 11 update?

I'm one of the people who had Windows 11 download itself without me telling it to do so. Now, it is ready for install. I do not want to install Windows 11 at this point. I want to keep my Windows 10.

I've paused it for 7 days, but this is a temporary solution. Can I delete the Windows 11 download somehow? I'm running Windows 10 on a brand new Dell computer.

    I had posted a new question regarding this issue and here was the response:

    No, it won't override or change the registry if your device was forced to get upgraded to Win 11. And you can simply go back to the same exact path where you changed it > Remove the value of TargetReleaseversionInfo > OK > Restart the computer. That's it. You should no longer worry about missing any updates for your Win 11.

    I could provide a screenshot but that path does not exist in my registry as I have not set this to block any Win 11 upgrades. "

    I'll see what I can do to get a screenshot from somebody of what is the target version words on a brand new laptop; unaltered and could easily download Windows 11. For right now, let me start a whole new question and see if an expert and/or advisor has that information. Maybe Rodrigo who always jumped in on how to alter the registry has this information??

    Yes, that would be best. It would be great if someone with an unaltered Windows 11 registry would provide a screenshot. I'm also thinking that by the time 2.5 yrs have passed my Surface may have bitten the dust (it's now 3.5 yrs old and you know how everything is made to not last these days) and it will be a moot point. Anything new bought at this point is bound to come with Windows 11 pre-loaded.

    I'm hoping someone else might be able to join in on this question. I think you are on the right track and I had those same ideas.

    We need to find out what target version would allow all the new Windows 11 versions that will be coming otherwise we will constantly be in the registry and I don't want to do that.

    Maybe someone who has a new laptop or computer that came with Windows 10 yet keeps being offered to download Windows 11 (registry not touched from when it came brand new), we can see exactly what the target version text should be.
