How to Cancel Windows 11 update?

I'm one of the people who had Windows 11 download itself without me telling it to do so. Now, it is ready for install. I do not want to install Windows 11 at this point. I want to keep my Windows 10.

I've paused it for 7 days, but this is a temporary solution. Can I delete the Windows 11 download somehow? I'm running Windows 10 on a brand new Dell computer.

    Should be 20H1. Now a question, I remember one month ago it said to update to 11. But now where can I find it? Is it possible that it has switched to a later version of win10? This would be like wonderful, but unlikely I believe

    Then maybe you're not in the state where it's already downloading the patch or waiting for you to reboot so it will apply it.

    If the GPO didn't work (did you reboot after?), then maybe the registry hack will do. (Posted by Rodrigo Quieroz on the first page)

    My upgrade is scheduled for the 28 Jan (delayed by me), yes I rebooted more than once in the last weeks. What do you think?

    Moreover this is in the register, looks like the settings should be ok according to Rodrigo ... for the little I can understand

    Yes, that registry entry looks correct to me.

    As does the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download - directory from your earlier post.

    And you say you have rebooted while in this state?

    Then - according to my mental model of how this works - Windows update should at most try to update to Windows 10 - 21H2.

    But according to you, it wants to update to Windows 11, correct?

    Have you checked what version of Windows you're running now? (Easiest to check with winver)

    If you're already on 21H2 and it still wants to update, I must admit I'm stumped.

    Hmmm... Maybe... You also mention you have paused updates for now? Maybe this 'freezes' the state of Windows Update and it will display that it will upgrade to Windows 11, even if it actually will not?

    Reaching for straws here, I know.

    If you don't also delete the download catalog, then Windows Update will see the catalog and resume the download.

    Or ask to apply the patch, if the download has completed.

    Please note that I do not have the directory you mentioned in the previous post, I have only this (something might be from Dell maybe). ShareFileCache is empty
