Window 11 taskbar auto-hide turning off

I switched to Windows 11 a few weeks ago, and ever since then, the taskbar auto-hide quits working when the computer comes out of Sleep mode. I have to be away from the computer for a while before it will happen, and I believe it has something to do with me running dual monitors. When I wake my computer, my secondary monitor appears to come up faster than my primary by just a fraction. Once my primary is on, there is a message saying something about the taskbar already being hidden (I think) and the taskbar on my primary monitor has the taskbar up. When I go to Taskbar Behaviors, 'Automatically hide the taskbar' is no longer checked. I'll select it again, and it will work fine until the system goes back into Sleep mode for a while, again.

    No, senorwillburr, sadly, even those with one screen are scuppered. I have 2 set-ups. The 2 screen set-up has now been working well for some months, and the unhide works on either screen, so that puts paid to that argument. But my single computer has either on or off, and to unhide I have to press the windows key every time. None of the 'fixes' I've tried have done any good at all, and I have to agree that a fix within the next few years would be a welcome relief!

    I'd also like to regain the small icons that were so useful, but I guess if they can't fix the major issues, then we'll probably be whistling in the wind for the small icons for several generations to come.

    Just found this thread. Wondering how many % of Win 11 users are NOT concerned by that. All those with just 1 screen I guess.

    I hope I can see a fix during my life time.

    Nope - sorry. So far I still have one computer with extra screen that has now been working well for a few months, and another computer, on its own, without Microsoft Teams, that you either have the task bar on permanently, or in 'hide' position, where the only way to get it back is to press the windows key.

    Not to you in particular, 7996, but to Microsoft: Microsoft, we have a problem. When are you a) going to start talking to us, and b) fix the problem? Oh, and btw, Microsoft, I used to have small icons, and I would very much like them back. What is your excuse for removing this very useful feature and ignoring all pleas to put it back? What would happen if there was true competition out there?
