Our church replaced the laptop that is used to host Zoom meetings for our church services. With the new computer, speech comes across fine, but music (organ, singing, etc) is completely suppressed. Group prayers (multiple people speaking at once) are also suppressed. The new computer is an Acer Aspire, with Windows 11. Our old computer ran Windows 10.
When we watch the input bar in the audio settings in Zoom, it drops to nothing when music starts up, which makes me think that the issue is happening before it gets to Zoom
I've read that there is a new feature in Microsoft Teams that suppresses sounds it does not consider to be speech -- I wonder if this is related to our problem somehow?

I bought an ANKAR speaker microphone recommended on a zoom tutorial and it does not get piano music, dog barking, etc.
I disabled internal OS 11 microphones and followed extensive directions from a music teacher who solved the problem, but the exact commands were not on my hp/OS 11 and it did not work to disable as well as choose alternate mic.

Snow is coming, church will be canceled and I will have to play piano from home. HELP.

Thank you! I'm sure that this info will help a lot of folks. I just got mine functional a few days ago. In the end, I had to disable both the realtek mic and the array speaker and run all sound through an external sound card. Because I just don't happen to have any speakers, I can only play a musical instrument with zoom on windows 11 if I use headphones, earbuds with a jack, or wireless earbuds. (bcz those are what I happen to have). All of those work fine. Again, a workaround rather than a solution, but I am just happy to have a workaround. Zoom dev team is still working on it. It needs to be resolved bcz few people will want to spend $1000 or more on a new computer and then have to purchase an external sound card (mine was only $25 on amazon, but still...), and then disable all of the internal sound. It is possible that any speakers would cause the musical instrument to be muted bcz the sound would be "heard" by the zoom program and possibly blocked (I haven't tested that scenario).

I was finally able to get this working in Windows 11 though, it's still not great. I'm using an LG Gram with Windows 11.
In my case, I was able to search for Realtek Audio Console (it also appears that it's an app downloadable from the Windows Store, but was already installed on my laptop).
In the Realtek Audio Console -> Recording Devices -> Microphone Array -> Microphone Effects
The setting was defaulted to Omni-Directional with the "AI Noise Reduction" setting selected. Unchecking "AI Noise Reduction" immediately allowed instrumental sounds through.
Going through the rest of the selections, we found the "High Quality Record" setting best, followed by "All Off". Instrumental sounds were better, but then any other non-music sounds were also quite pronounced. Hope that helps
Thank you for the update. I'm sorry you had so much trouble. I am trying to avoid downgrading to Windows 10.. My computer also came with Windows 11 pre-installed. I agree that Microsoft and Zoom need to reach some resolution on this problem. Right now I am trying to go to an external sound card but it is not working yet. Hope you will continue to have good luck with your music. clc
