I did look at my registry. Those are current values in my registry. So either an update fixed to "proper" setting or this wasn't an issue on my system.
Regardless, my issue resolved after the last Defender update.

Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Since last Windows 10 automatic update done on 8 PCs (KB5016616, KB5012170 & KB890830) 4 PCs are now showing "task host window is stopping background tasks" on shutdown.
Does anyone know what caused this?
Thanks

Same issue on my PC started happening around 3 weeks ago。。。。。。
So far no fix from Microsoft. I was hoping that the last update might fix it but it hasn't. I am still not sure Microsoft knows about this issue - hope they do!
What's the deal here? This goddamned thing is 'still' popping up at shutdown on my Win 10 PC.
Good oh! Job done.
