Can't Find--How do I delete: usb2ser.sys & wdcsam64_prewin8.sys

I am Dave, I will help you with this,

usb2ser.sys is an old MediaTek USB driver.

wdcsam64_prewin8.sys is a driver associated to a Western Digital driver

Open File Explorer, then navigate to C:\Windows\System32

Search for usb2ser.sys

Then right click the version of that driver that was found in the Drivers folder and select Rename, and rename that file to usb2ser.sys.old

Then do the same for the other driver, by searching for it and adding .old to the file name

Then restart your PC and that will stop those drivers loading

THIS WORKED GREAT TO FIND IT BUT THE COMPUTER WON'T LET ME DELETE IT

this may / may not help, clicking around today

Removed old device drivers = Success this afternoon.

4:09 pm Device Mgr Sys.Devices -> removed oem16 (MediaTek CDC)

4:12 pm Win 11 Settings -> Security : Core Isloation "ON", Restart

4:15 pm WD 4 TB EasyStore installed, functional, Ejected WD

4:18 pm Surface App wants to "Update" with OEM34 vers. 1.2.0.0 11/30/2017 (Deferred WD Update)

The Microsoft Surface App warned about old device drivers, leading to "Core Isolation" 

Why did the Microsoft Surface Application want to downgrade the Driver after removing it ? 

The Surface App now appears on screen automatically, but not in "Startup" {surprise}

Checked results w/the command prompt, elevated privilege, using:

dism /online /get-drivers /format: table

From admin Command Prompt, please run:

• pnputil /delete-driver oem34.inf /uninstall /force

And to remove the 2nd entry from the list, use Autoruns. See Option 6: Using Sysinternals Autoruns in this article.

If you open Device Manager, then at the top, select View - Show Hidden

Can you find the Western Digital (WD) and the MediaTek USB device (not a MediaTek network card), if you can right click and delete them from there.
