Windows 11 right click explorer menu - Show More as Default

Hello!

I cannot stand the new drop down when I right click on a file. Could you please update windows 11 so we can set the show more option as the default?

Hi Brie,

You can use a small registry hack to revert to the classic context menu if you're not fond of Windows 11's fast context menu.

  1. Open a Command Prompt window.
  2. Type the following command line and press Enter: 
     reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f

    fix this. why do you guys constantly think we want you to CHANGE HOW THINGS WORK?

    If you want to change things, FINE, but dont make it so the rest of us who already are comfortable change to this new garbage BAD IDEA you guys came up with.

    This is why i avoid windows 11. Its been a nightmare for 24 hours trying to make this look and work like windows 10. Im uninstalling it and putting windows 10 back on. You guys need to figure out that we DONT WANT YOUR CHANGES - leave an option for the original layout. Itll be a cold day in heck before i EVER consider windows 11 again.

    This should be a customizable option, to either have the expanded menu open by default or not.

    In addition, the items on the menu should be customizable. Just build it into the preferences/options/view or whatever else MS wants to call it.

    I think you are addressing wrong person.

    Erik is a MVP so as I know, he is not an employee of MS.

    Most of (correct) answers supplied here on answers.microsoft.com are actually answers from people not affiliated with MS in any way.

    Probably it's a MS policy, to cut down costs on employment.

    But your point is correct.

    I am an IT admin.

    I don't want candies.

    I need a tool for work.

    A stable tool.

    A tool which will give me a chance to manage my work fastly.

    And I see that MS started to create desktop systems directed only to people that use browser, facebook, instagram and maybe Office.

    And that is all.

    Starting from Windows 8, MS focused on visibility rather then usability.

    Not to mention multiple problems you can find in Internet, regarding stability on Windows 10/11 which is in this point hilarious.

    And answers.microsoft.com is less helpful than on ie. stackexchange, where you will not find "restart your PC" as a magical resolution to all problems.

    It's probably time to switch desktop to Mac or other Linux as in the end I sticked with Windows 10/11 so I will be able to do my work fast, but if I get an unstable candy like now, the work gets slower and harder.
