Windows 11 right click explorer menu - Show More as Default

Hello!

I cannot stand the new drop down when I right click on a file. Could you please update windows 11 so we can set the show more option as the default?

Hi Brie,

You can use a small registry hack to revert to the classic context menu if you're not fond of Windows 11's fast context menu.

  1. Open a Command Prompt window.
  2. Type the following command line and press Enter: 
     reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f

    did not work

    Maybe you have a standard account and thought that you had to run the command as Administrator? That won't work. Just open a regular Cmd window (NOT as Administrator) to run the command and it should work fine.

    Then logout and login to be sure the change takes effect.

    did not work, avoiding windows 11 al all costs because of this one ridiculous annoyance, windows 10 for life. Microsoft... why are you like this?

    The place I always go to for Windows 11 info, people know what they are talking about as opposed to <removed> advisor wannabees' who are telling you unproven and useless stuff to just get ratings
