Windows activation after bios update

Thanks for sharing, even though I read an assumption that other customers were not pleasant or polite... That wasn't my case.

I open 3-4 support tickets, none of them were ever receive any form of response, they were just tagged as 'solved' without any form

to contact. In my country there is only one way to contact MS support, opening a ticket and hope. No phone calls, no live chat at all.

So after I had this 'pleasant' treatment I have all the rights to be pissed off, and I never insulted any of the tech or MS personnel.

I just wrote they are unprofessional, and this is a fact in my case.

Having said that, I'm glad to read you solved your issue through the support, but that was not the case for me, and for many other customers.

The fact that MS assume you have an illegal copy of their product is beyond unprofessional, it's just insulting. I payed like many other people and we

were left alone in the moment of needs. That's another reason to be rightfully pissed off.

I'd like to write you are in good company, but in reality you are the exception. MS knows about this problem, it's over an year people complains about it. And the most common response was 'hey I assume you have a pirated copy of our product, you can solve this issue buying a legal copy of our products'

This is a joke, and customers need to know that if they face the same problem they probably will struggle a lot to solve it, and most often than not they will need to solve it by themselves. (...or burn more money buying another license)

Glad you solved your problem too, can't take the merit on that though. Your thanks should be addressed to the guys made this awesome script.

By the way, I downloaded a copy of my OS license invoice from the microsoft account, just in case they complain about this method and any trace of my purchase is 'magically' lost.

I suggest you do the same... you'll never know.

It is garbage that is issue has not been completely addressed. Apparently you have to ask Microsoft for permission to update your hardware now or you lose your license. Next time I do any changes as such, I'm going to contact Microsoft FIRST and make them stay on the phone while I make the changes. Make them confirm that I do have a license that is valid BEFORE making the changes, and then keep them on the phone for the reboot to see if Windows deactivates. I'll even share my screen with them so they know I'm using the same machine and not trying to activate on another. If that doesn't get them to make changes, I'm not sure what would.

Yup, this **** is STILL going on. Perfect example of "don't update your BIOS unless you HAVE to." Hadn't checked for BIOS in quite a while on my z690 Tomahawk and realized there was a ton of drivers and several BIOS updates since my last update cycle so I went ahead and shot myself in the foot like everyone else here just to see if I could get my ram stable at the XMP speeds it was advertised at since I'd had problems in the past.

I've spent hours now attempting pretty much everything everyone here has suggested to no help whatsoever. To put it lightly this is freaking ridiculous that it still hasn't been addressed in over a year.

yes, the key format is what you wrote but it is the one obtained by buying Win10/11 pro over MS Store and read by AIDA64.
There is a silent change by MS about how licenses are handled at least what I can figure out after my new bios update on msi meg Z790 ACE.

The new bios brings some OC Memory optimizations and new microcode's and support for 14th Gen Intel CPU

To be sure before flashing I disabled TPM from bios and here comes the difference, I was able to login directly to Win11 without the idiotic "CHANGE PIN" procedure, no questions asked.
Checked Win status it stated Activated.
Did the flash, set the bios as per my liking but kept TPM Disabled, logged in Win 11 with new bios no question asked and no "CHANGE PIN" BS .

Checked thew activation status and everything is OK.

Don't know for sure but looks like MS did something about the licensing problem or my conversation with MS support and mailing back and forth did something with my account and how it handles the licenses.
I just hope it stays this way and good luck to you people!
