Can't access bios or advanced startup on windows 11

This work around will only apply if you have a monitor that can be switched off/on without powering down the computer. If you can attach a separate monitor to a laptop it should also work for that.

I discovered (Quite by accident) that if you turn off your monitor and restart it after the Advanced Recovery, Restart Now sequence is allowed to run ( I give it about 30 seconds of black screen) it lets the video resync with the monitor. From there the standard recovery menu is there complete with UEFI BIOS select. Hope this helps someone else cause its been driving me nutz!!!

none of these worked, but I found the SOLUTION:

1- open RUN program

2- type msconfig and press Enter

3- in General tab choose NORMAL STARTUP

4- reboot and the mobo splash logo should appear and if you try to go bios mode it should work, it did for me.

for some reason that worked for me from having no signal on the monitor to fully working bios and advanced startup.

I'm having the same problem. Every time I click on the advanced startup, I can't get into the bios at all. I can't enter my bios using any method, it ends up in my desktop pc turning black and being unresponsive. When booting up my pc, it doesn't preesent me any option to enter bios either.

resetting the CMOS with the switch and entering msconfig then restarting my pc didn't work for me sadly.

So it seems this is not an uncommon issue with windows 11, during boot up screen is black. If I try to restart into the advanced startup or access BISO I can not see anything because the screen is black. Once the windows login screen appears I can see everything fine and I can log in no issues. What I have tried so far is:

• Setting the framerate of the graphics to 60Hz
• Ensuring Project is set to pc screen only
• Ensured my bios is up-to-date along with my graphics drivers and all over drivers
• I tried repairing MBR
• I have the latest windows 11 updates
• I ensured there are no viruses or malware or trojans

I know it's not a hardware issue as everything was fine before I upgraded to windows 11 from 10 and it's only during bootup. All the fixes online suggest rebooting into advanced recovery mode but I can't do that because of the black screen (even if I choose the advanced reboot from windows 11 it just goes to a black screen), even if I try plugging in A USB with an iso or windows 10 recovery I can not see anything to select the option to use it or change the default boot order. The only thing I have not tried so far is to use the CMOS to flash my motherboard bios back to its default version but I have a laptop so taking it apart is not only not ideal and carries many risks but I am confident it will not help, its some issue with windows 11 that so far despite others suffering Microsoft have not been able to fix.

The worst part is I can't even roll back to windows 10 because of the black screen. My Pc's not old or particularly low performance as I have an I7 11th gen, 2Tb SSD's 32Gb ram & G-Force graphics card. after exhausting all the help online I turned to here in the hope someone knew of a fix that does not rely on using the advanced recovery option because that is useless when you can't see anything.

I tried plugging in a secondary monitor through the HDML hoping that might work but no dice

if anyone ever works this out please please come back here and let the rest of us know ...I really wish I hadn't upgraded to windows 11 now, I knew it was a bad idea

If you have the modern UEFI BIOS and Windows is installed correctly to UEFI, then you can access the BIOS/UEFI setup via the Windows 11 Recovery mode as shown here:

If that fails then look into whether your PC or motherboard supports bootable BIOS updates to update your BIOS to the latest or reflash the latest version if if you have the latest.

One last resort thing to try is to unplug the hard drives/SSD's to see if you can enter BIOS then. This usualiy means boot level code is causing this, so isolate which drive is causing it, slave it to another PC to copy out the data and wipe it with Diskpart Clean Command: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/85819-erase... and then reformat in Disk Management:
