Can't install KB5014668

I've been running Windows 11 since Nov 2021. This is the first update failure I've encountered. I was trying to install KB5014668. It stopped at 25% install and showed error 0x80000ffff. I ran troubleshooter (multiple times) to no avail. Upon a restart, it showed installing an update, in the middle it rebooted and then on the subsequent restart it showed install to 48% then said something went wrong, not to worry as it was restoring. It rebooted again, showing the same message, on the next restart it booted into windows. I've run sfc /scannow and dism restorehealth. Neither showed an error or helped. I use Macrium and also tried mounting an image taken before I tried the update and copied the Software Distribution folder and pasted it over the current folder. No help there either. I am able to download Windows Defender definition updates okay at this point.

I could just restore the whole drive to a point before I tried the install but would like to use that as a last resort. Right now I can perform multiple restarts with it booting straight into Windows. So I'm not sure if I should just wait until the July cumulative is available to see what happens or is there something I can or should try at this point, like try to download and install it straight from the update catalog?

Thanks for any help with this.

Update... I did try to use the Windows Catalog to do a manual install. It seemed to download ok but when I hit install it failed immediately with an error code of 0x80070002 (I got this from the reliability monitor)

    I have read all the suggestions and tried them, many hours. KB5014668 get stuck. With each boot windows 11 updates were being installed then an error message.

    I had an image backup that predated the error and installed it. Then I downloaded Windows Media Creator and tried to install Windows 11 on top of Windows 11 and it chocked and reverted back to the installed Windows 11. Something is very wrong with this update. I have now blocked it from installing. I am thankful I had a backup.

    Microsoft should pull this update and find out why so many people are having trouble.

    Well, John: Your canned responses are just that - canned. Everybody and their brother with this problem update has tried and tried all your "recommendations" and can reliably tell you - they don't work! You would think that after seeing so many posts reporting the issues associated with this update that it would be obvious: You need to dump this update and start over.

    Let's get it fixed and quit wasting people's time.

    Sorry for the time but I was able to finally solve it. I had to contact MS Support and open a ticket, they told me to realize an in place upgrade (which I didn't want to do in first place).     After following all steps for the upgrade, I noticed that Windows installed again these KBs that were previously installed; 2022-04 Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057) - 2022-06 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 11 for x64 (KB5013889). After several SEVERAL reboots and patience, it was able to install the desired June KB KB5014668.

    I believe the other patches had an issue/corruption but I am not quite sure about that because I ran several scans and checked logs under DISM, component was consistent and renamed the catroot folders, so it is kinda a MS thing here.

    I installed with the default "keep all my files and apps" option and after it was finished I had to download a handful of windows updates before it got back to this one, and it finally installed w/out issue. I still think it was related to Malwarebytes, I found some users on their forums with same issue and may have fixed it with their help. It seemed to be a permission issue according to a log file I looked at about the failed update, but I did not want to try and edit any permissions, I never changed any to start with and seems like anytime I do that I end up with permission issues forever.

    Anyway the fix in the link above was easy, and fast if you have SSD drive.

    FYI, this problem is happening on both of my Win11 desktops located in different homes with different ISPs. I also think it is a problem with the update.

    I can create the zip file but do not see how to share it here. Sorry.,
