Microsoft GameInput Application Reconfiguration Crashes Win 11 PC

So far, the only solution seems to be to completely delete the Xbox app and all of it's redistributables and services, such as gameinput and gameservices. You can, however, keep any gamepass games installed and play them via a desktop shortcut even without the Xbox app. Far from ideal, but better than anything MS has offered up so far....

I uninstalled gameinput in the usual way through Windows "add or remove programmes", then removed all of the Xbox services through the powershell by following the relevant instructions at the following link:

Alternatively, some have found that this simple powershell command (run as administrator) does the job:

Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers

Hope that helps... and I hope MS pull their fingers out and try to fix this properly. It's ludicrous that this has been going on for so long.

What's the Solution here nothing seems to work this **** keeps coming back and crashing PC mid work and during important stuff, I tried all the solutions but this gameinput still comes back and everytime it tries to reconfigure it causes my PC to hard crash/Stuck and i have to force shut my PC. My PSU will fry someday along with the graphics card. I almost had a seizure the other day because the PC crashed while i was playng a game wearing the headphones and it hanged up on me with extremely loud crashing sound blaring through my headphones.

I started having this issue recently after a forced MS update, whilst playing non-MS games on Steam like Euro Truck Simulator 2 and with MS games like Forza 5. A Logitech gearbox I use would suddenly stop working, followed by a 'reconfigured GameInput' entry in the Event Viewer a split second later and a complete system deadlock until power-cycled.

sfc /scannow is finding no problems.

I cannot remove the GameInput via powershell, I get a deployment error and removal fails.

I can uninstall it via Add and Remove Programs, but on restart it comes back.

"Successful application reconfiguration" may not necessarily mean that the GameInput has an issue. The reverse is true as well without something more specific that your computer is messing up its files.

There should be either no "application reconfiguration" if the installation is 100% correct or if the reconfiguration is done 100% of the time then it means nothing here and is instead a red herring.

Trying to mess with the files doesn't work well on Windows since it may force fix installation files. Stopping or pausing of Windows updates is also a poor workaround.

You should try to hunt around for a better error to go on, figure out why the application is continually being reconfigured, and or try other Windows tools to figure it out. You can also do that in reverse by changing and testing many differences with your computer to try to affect the issue.

Just curious, does doing this prevent you from using the Xbox app? At the moment I've resigned myself to just straight up uninstalling Gaming Service from my Windows even though it means I can't use the Xbox app because I'd rather give up game pass than have to deal with the constant freezing.
