My Win 11 PC can only wake up by pressing the power button. How do make it able to wake up using the keyboard or mouse?

I have checked the option that says "Enable wake up using mouse or keyboard" somewhere, but it doesn't make any difference.

My PC is updated to the latest system update.

I believe I found the solution, it is a Windows power-saving policy where USB power is cut off when the computer goes into sleep mode, so the keyboard receiver will not work, and the computer will not wake up as a result. You just need to disable this feature.

Settings > Energy e Battery > Energy Recommendations > Stop usb devices when my screen is off to save battery ----> Turn Off.

Not sure if the following opinions from Hahn - MSFT Micrisift Agent | Moderator works.
I re-post his opinions as following.

Primary monitor gets no signal from PC after waking up from sleep mode.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

It sounds like your primary Samsung Odyssey G6 monitor is experiencing issues with waking up from sleep mode. This can be a common issue with monitors and usually involves settings related to power management or the display connection. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Power Settings: Go to Control Panel -> Power Options, then select Change plan settings for the power plan you're currently using, and Change advanced power settings. Next, scroll down to PCI Express, click the + icon next to it, and under Link State Power Management, change the setting to Off and click Save changes.
    2. Update Graphics Driver: Ensure that your graphics card driver is up to date. You can visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest driver for your graphics card.
    3. Monitor Settings: Some monitors have an option to disable the Deep Sleep mode in the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) settings. Check if your Samsung Odyssey G6 has this option and disable it if possible.
    4. Cable Check: Make sure that the cables connecting your PC to the monitor are secure and not damaged. Try using a different DisplayPort or HDMI cable to see if the issue persists.
    5. Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your Samsung Odyssey G6 monitor. Firmware updates can often resolve compatibility and power management issues.
    6. Swap Display Ports or Cables: If possible, try using different display ports (HDMI, DisplayPort) or swap cables between the monitors to identify if the issue is related to a specific port or cable.
    7. Disable Fast Startup: In your PC's power settings, disable "Fast Startup" as it might interfere with the wake-up process of some devices.
    8. Check for Specific Monitor Software: Ensure that there are no specific software settings or applications installed for your primary monitor that might interfere with the wake-up process. Sometimes, manufacturer-provided software can cause conflicts.

A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

If after trying these steps you're still encountering the issue, it might be beneficial to reach out to Samsung's support or the manufacturer of your PC for further assistance, especially if the problem persists even after trying different cables or ports.

I hope these steps help you get your primary monitor working properly after waking up from sleep mode. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask!

    Your Sincerely

I believe I have found the definitive solution to this problem. You need to actually locate which device is your mouse/keyboard and allow it to wake the computer from sleep mode. Unfortunately, this is an issue that affects many users and there isn't an easy solution from Windows, even in the most recent versions.

    1. Press Windows + R and type devmgmt.msc - This will open Device Manager
    2. Look for Human Interface Devices and locate your keyboard/mouse device. If you don't know exactly which one it is, you can try disabling all of them and, through the process of elimination, find yours.
    3. Right-click on the device and click on properties, then click on the power management tab and uncheck - The computer can turn off the device to save power.
    4. Do this with all keyboard/mouse devices. They may be located in other categories such as "Mouse and other pointing devices".

Tell me if it works ok?

Suggestions from this discussion do work for my case. Thank you.

I only encountered this situation on HDMI cables (maybe DP cable as well) for current new Asus motherboard, but did not encountered similar issue with VGA, nor DVI cables before, on previous Asus H610 motherboard.

I was having this issue on a desktop I built this past week. I saw this post and tried all the recommendations to no avail. I did find a solution, however, it may not work for everyone.

I built the computer using the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI DDR4 motherboard. When none of the suggestions in this thread worked I started poking around in the BIOS as I had seen some advanced power management options while setting up the computer.

Go to (or try to find an equivalent):

Settings->Advanced->Wake Up Event Setup->Wake Up Event By: set this option to 'BIOS' (I tried using the 'OS' option, but it didn't seem to work)

Settings->Advanced->Wake Up Event Setup->Resume By USB Device: set this option to 'Enabled' (This will automatically enable the Settings->Advanced->Power Management Setup->USB Standby Power At S4/S5)

After I turned those BIOS settings on I can now wake my computer from sleep with the keyboard or mouse with no changes to my OS settings (as my keyboard and mouse were already allowed to wake the computer from sleep by default).

This solution worked for me. I have a similar motherboard to yours, except mine is B760-P. My PC is waking from both my keyboard and mouse now.
