Windows 11 language's basic typing won't finish downloading

There is a known issue that if you type Chinese characters in an English system environment, the word-searching bar would disappear while typing multiple Chinese characters in a row. This issue was never fixed and was very annoying. Today I tried to uninstall the Chinese language pack and wanted to do a reinstall, the language pack was downloaded just fine, but the basic typing was just stuck at the downloading phase and never goes to completion. I've been waited for more than 24 hours already.

Hey guys,

New here but was plagued by the exact same issue (Windows 11 ASUS ROG laptop) and managed to solve it with one of the mentioned solutions. Here is a TLDR and its working perfectly now for all languages for me.

Methods that did not work:
DISM fixes, restarts, regedits, ESD/CAB installations

Method that worked:1. Remove all language packs installed in Optional Features

2. Remove all secondary languages under Time and Language (Just leave the main one)

3. Run an In-Place Windows 11 upgrade (link provided below on how, might take quite a while involving multiple auto restarts. apps and files are not affected at all, read info in link)

4. Reinstall secondary languages, they should still take quite a long while but a tad under 45 minutes for me

    I litteraly tried everything in this thread no joke (Except reset, i dont wanna reset)

    and

    of it worked.

    Well, this is outlandish. Yet another reason why windows 10 is better.

    Hi Flower Jun,

    Thank you for your supplement to this question and the video link, which will help me to understand your question more accurately.

    For now I recommend that you download an ISO image file and use it to repair your system.

    Visit Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com) and click "Download Now" to download MCT (Media Creation Tool), then download and run the program, select "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO file) for another PC” , and then choose Language, Version, Architecture (if you are not sure about these, choose "Use the recommended options for this PC"), then select "ISO file" in the "Select Media to Use" interface, and then a windows ISO file will be downloaded to your disk (about 4-5GB in size, it is recommended that you choose a non-system disk).

    After the download is complete, double-click the ISO file, double-click to run "setup.exe" in the open file explorer, and select "Change how Windows Installer downloads updates" > "Download updates, drivers and optional features", Select "Keep personal files and apps" after accepting the terms of the agreement, then click "Next" > "Install". Then the system will reboot a few times, and then enter the welcome screen.

    Disclaimer: Please back up all your important data before performing it.

    This scheme is not to reinstall the system, but to use the image file to repair the system.

    My solution is not to download Microsoft Chinese basic typing, simply download a Chinese keyboard like Baidu typing, and you should be able to type in Chinese. But this won't fix the issue of word-choosing bar disappearing while typing in a browser.

    For typing Chinese, that could help.

    but I do the Chinese language work in Word. like adding the Pinyin for Chinese characters (Phonetic Guide). still big problem to me

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    For the first issue you describe, I tested it on multiple Windows 11 devices. As a result, I was able to type Chinese easily and the search bar did not disappear. I'm sorry that I could not reproduce your problem, but there may be some Settings that can alleviate or fix the problem, which I hope you can try (although reinstalling the input method is a good solution).

    Please click Start -- Settings -- Time and Language -- Language and Region, select Chinese (Simplified, Chinese), open the language options, click Microsoft Pinyin keyboard option -- General, pull down to the bottom, turn Compatibility on, if you are on, please turn it off.

    As for your second question, this means that your device does not seem to be able to maintain a tight connection with Microsoft's servers. I recommend you to try changing DNS: go to Start -- Settings -- Network and Internet-- Ethernet --DNS Server Assignment -- Edit, change to manual, select IPV4, and then change to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1

    Or switch your network carrier, or try connecting to your phone's hotspot function.
