An error message is displayed while connecting to network shared printer. 'Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000709) Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.

Hi,

It's a known issue in Windows 11 22H2. This error occurs because the default connection method has changed in 22H2. Altering a setting in the Group Policy Editor resolves the issue.

For Windows 11 Home Edition, try the registry edit (equivalent to the Group Policy setting) mentioned on the above page:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\RPC] There are 2 values that can be configured:

RpcUseNamedPipeProtocol REG_DWORD

0: RpcOverTcp (default)
1: RpcOverNamedPipes

    For sure, it is troubling that MS leaves folks hanging with no easy remedy to issues that arise particularly after a Windows update. Happens all the time, either breaks your happily working device or resets configurations that a user has set. Certainly makes you think twice about a company with lousy customer service. In my case, adding the registry keys resolved my problem but I have been in the situation where solutions have not worked, so I can empathize with your situation and I'm thinking twice.

    THIS! How in the seventh level of hell does MICROSOFT want to be the biggest and most stuck up tech ...anything and constantly turning out security risks and bugs and cant make it where a simple download is compatible? Epson says it's Microsoft's deal to get things to work together so maybe that could happen? I've been fighting with this **** over a month and still CAN NOT PRINT!!!
