New issue with unlocking my Samsung phone via phone link app on PC

I've been using the "Phone Link" app on my computer and mobile and this has let me mirror my phone on my computer and enabled me to unlock the phone screen from my PC. However I'm no longer able to unlock from the PC and it is showing the following message: "Unlock on your phone. To keep your credential private and secure, we need you to unlock your phone to continue." Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

you need to disable automatic update on your android phone. go to Android store, profile, updates and uncheck automatic updates for phone link. That way when an update for phone link comes out for android it won't get updated unless you allow the update to happen.

Here's a step-by-step video on how to do that:

For what it's worth, I haven't suppressed app-updates on my phone. I just suppressed app-updates on my PC and the Phone Link app never updates.

I'm skeptical that suppressing app-updates on your phone has anything to do with automatic updates on your PC. Just saying. . .

    Hi Steve,

Thank you. Tried this before asking you and now again. Still automatically updated.

    Hi Steve,

Seems restarting my pc the next morning updated Phone link automatically.

I had to reinstall the older version again.

Its quick but wonder if there is some way to stop it from automatically updating?

    Thank you

On your PC, click the Search function of the Taskbar. Search for "Microsoft Store." Open the Microsoft Store app. In the top right hand corner, there's a widget to modify your Profile. Click Profile | App Settings. In App Settings, there's a slider for "App Updates Update Apps Automatically." Click the slider to the off position.

Your done! (You'll be left with a Badge notification in the Taskbar for Phone Link app -- 1 Notification from "Settings | About" that says you need to update Phone Link to the latest version. Ignore this now-permanent Notification Badge.)
