Thank you. It has had the odd moment when it didn't work since, but basically it seems ok and I didn't change the account settings. Whatever it was the error (as shown in my initial post) was instantaneous and repeated each time WLM tried. I still don't understand why this issue only affected this email account and not gmail, btinternet, or aol emails (nor any other internet service), but there we are. I just hope it continues to work. Hopefully Microsoft will let users know before they discontinue or change any service. I rely on POP and Windows Live Mail so I can retain individual emails locally on my laptop and delete from elsewhere. Thank you again for your efforts to help.
Is live.co.uk using POP on a mail host out of order or discontinued.
Is live.co.uk using POP on a mail host out of order or discontinued. It worked perfectly for years but has not worked for last 2 days. I get "Unable to send or receive messages for the Live.co.uk (username) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity. Server: 'pop3.live.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F Protocol: POP3 Port: 995 Secure(SSL): Yes"

2021-10-15T06:21:13+00:00 No I don't need to change to outlook.office365.com. If you were correct in your assumption of the cause I would have needed to use the MSN settings from the link in your first response (outlook.com). But this issue would not have suddenly happened this week as outlook.com and outlook.office365.com have been operating for some time. Your assumption as to the cause is I believe incorrect. I cleared the dns cache and registered the dns. This seems to have worked and I am currently able to pick up pop3.live.com in WLM. Why only my live.co.uk email was affected and not my other POP3 email accounts I don't know (perhaps you do?), nor why this issue suddenly arose this week. I am not a technical person and had hoped for help on the forum from people with technical knowledge. I am disappointed in your response but pleased my own internet research and efforts seem to have achieved resolution which hopefully will continue and that my solution might also help someone else in future.
