windows 11 with LG ultrawide monitor

I recently updated to Windows 11. I have a LG 34 inch ultrawide monitor (21:9 aspect ratio, 2560x1080 resolution). Windows 11 selects the generic Pnp monitor driver, which has a max 1920x1080 resolution, so the screen is fuzzy and stretched out - really unusable. LG does not have an updated driver, Windows 11 has all updates installed has no updates available related to this driver and it will only select this as the recommended resolution.

Is there no support for 2560x1080 HDMI monitors in windows 11?

    OP, did you ever find a solution for this? Scaling looks HORRIBLE with Windows 11 and the LG UWS 34.

    I have a 16:9 22" monitor 1920x1080 and I think it looks pretty bad compared to Windows 10. I have tried different hdmi cables and adjusting monitor settings to no avail. I would think at 100% scale it would look much better than it does. I might just go back to Windows 10.

    Hi!

    It might not help everyone with the issue, but I noticed that in Display setting the monitor used 30Hz refresh rate and the result was that display was more like 21:7 not 21:9 ( there was a lot of unused screen space on top and bottom) when using 2560x1080 resolution, and image was in poor quality.

    Then I changed the refresh rate to 50 Hz. and now it looks like it was with windows 10 laptop I used before ( good think that I didn't replaced the monitor).

    I wanted to add this for anyone frantically googling. I got a new laptop (Dell xps15, 2023), and connected to my widescreen monitor (LG 25UM58 25 inch Ultrawide), and even when I selected the right resolution (the 'recommended' option, which matched what the monitor is meant to show) in Display Settings and updated all drivers, the screen was stretched. The monitor had been fine with my previous laptop.

    The problem resolved when I changed a setting on the monitor itself: Using the buttons on the monitor, I went into the screen menu to Settings>General>HDMI Compatibility Mode and switched this ON. That fixed the problem. Hope that helps someone else pulling their hair out.

    So if your screen is stretched in Windows 11 and none of the settings or drivers fix it, try fiddling with the hardware menu options too, that might solve the problem.

    Laptop Dell 7400 2 in 1

    Windows 11 (uptated from 10)

    In my case the problem was solved setting refresh rate to 74.99Hz

    Follow the next steps

    > Display Settings

    > Select your monitor
    > Display resolution: Recomended (2560 x 1080)

    > Advanced display

    > Select your display

    > Choose a refresh rate: 74.99Hz (if you support 60hz then set it)

    You saved my a*s, man! Thank you! Two days of struggle - changing bios setting, drivers, performance modes, new cables... Nothing worked. Then I just overclocked the monitor from 60 to 75Hz and it WORKED! I owe you a beer!
