windows 11 with LG ultrawide monitor

I recently updated to Windows 11. I have a LG 34 inch ultrawide monitor (21:9 aspect ratio, 2560x1080 resolution). Windows 11 selects the generic Pnp monitor driver, which has a max 1920x1080 resolution, so the screen is fuzzy and stretched out - really unusable. LG does not have an updated driver, Windows 11 has all updates installed has no updates available related to this driver and it will only select this as the recommended resolution.

Is there no support for 2560x1080 HDMI monitors in windows 11?

    OK. Just wanted to add my experience. I have a Dell laptop with the following ports: hdmi, usb-c (not display port compatible)! Usb 3.0 and usb 2.0.

    I have 2 lg 29 in ultrawide monitors.

    Both work with 2560x1080 from hdmi port.

    I had a hard time figuring out why I couldn't get 2nd monitor to have correct resolution (kept at 1920x1080 max)

    I bought about 5 adapters. At some point I realized usb-c did not support display.

    Finally realized I had usb 3.0 - hdmi adapter was plugged into usb 2.0 port.

    Voila plugged in usb 3.0 - hdmi adapter into usb 3.0 port. My 2nd monitor has 2560x1080 resolution in display settings. Spent weeks on this problem.

    1. Check hdmi cable works in hdmi port.
    2. Check if usb c is compatible as display adapter (it would be specified, if not listed it isn't compatible)
    3. Check which ports are usb 3.0

    I bought insignia usb 3.0 - hdmi 4k adapter Model:NS-PA3UHD

    Now that I figured it out it is likely I could have found a cheaper adapter. Biggest thing is to determine what each of your ports are. Buy the right adapter. Dual ultrawide now work. My setup is side by side.

    I am going to post this info wherever I can because no answer provided this much detail. I hope I help with any headaches anyone having.

    Yep, I've just discovered this, exactly the same issue. I'm sending the 'new' laptop back - I'll go buy a used windows 10 machine

    No, I asked the question on the LG help site. LG's response was to keep checking back to see if they had updated drivers for ultrawide monitors compatible with Microsoft 11. this was 4 months ago. Still no updates.

    Hi guys,

    Has anyone found a solution for this? Mine was fine up to recently and now I can't go back and am not sure what to change. I have an LG 29wk500/50S and an intel iris R Xe graphics driver.

    Hoping someone can help - no options for the 2560 x 1080 in the usual settings.

    This is definitely an LG problem. They told me yesterday that they have no Windows 11 drivers for their Ultragear 4K monitors. Mine's stuck at 1920x1080. Meanwhile, my Dell U2515H is fine at its native/max resolution of 2048x1152.

    New (Dell) Win11 computer installed yesterday.
