With the February update to Windows 11 - you have the option to disable MS start to feed from the Widget Settings. Requires Windows 11 23H2 at least.
How to disable news and interest in Windows 11 widget
I want to keep the widget on my task bar, however I don't want the new stories to show. I've hide a bunch of them and they still end up showing, but I'm constantly having to hide them all since there are sooooo many. How do I disable the top stories, and the news and interest without turning off my widgets. I ONLY want the weather to show.
I've uninstalled microsoft news but I'm still seeing the news stories.

I would suggest that you completely remove the the Widgets app from your taskbar - see here -and pin the Weather App to Start / Taskbar.

2023-05-21T20:50:15+00:00 I have the same problem. I'd like to use the widgets of my choice, but I don't want to see any "news". They depress me a lot ;(
The option "Hide stories from..." evidently doesn't work and I keep seeing "news" from providers that I've indicated many times that I do not wish to receive their disgusting content from.

2023-05-04T05:36:01+00:00 I was happy with the advice here and uninstalled Windows Experience Pack....
....until the most recent update. The feature came back but the Windows Experience Pack is not listed in my Uninstall list neither in settings nor in control panel!!!
What now???? Not happy.

2023-04-12T18:50:44+00:00 which is why you have to uninstall the web experience pack to truly disable it, and repeat uninstall as necessary after updates and "upgrades"
