Windows update error encountered (0x80070424)

Hello,

I'm not able to update windows software, i have tried manual updating using Windows 10 update assistant but once I wanna install it tells me that i'm downgrading and that Windows has to delete all my files if i go ahead which is odd.

I have also tried w10-wuauserv.reg method as i saw it on the forum but didn't work as well.

I might have messed with the cmd prompt at some point but not sure if that is the reason behind the error and I don't know how to go back to point null to see if that's the case.

Please help..

    Hi Jose,

    Scanner has been on for about 6 hours now and i assume 3 additional hours are needed, so far 67 infected files, will the software fix everything by itself when scanning is finished?

    First, download the Microsoft Safety Scanner Tool and run a full scan. Next, download the following reg files to register again both services:

    After download both file, right click over both files and select Merge. Click yes to confirm the merge process. Next restart your computer and verify again using Services console.

    Background intelligent transfer service does exist but there's a blank space in "status" so its not running i assume and start-up type is manual for it.

    As for windows update I couldn't find it, i only found: Windows update medic service and there's a blank space as well in "status" bar.

    Please, open Services console and verify if the following services exists and it status:

    Background Intelligent Transfer services

    Windows update

    I received the same error when i tried installing:

    "Windows update Standalone installer

    Installer encountered an error: 0x80070424

    The specified service does not exist as an installed service"
