No, Mary, I don't give up on helping nice people and if they are struggling I only want to help more. Especially for those who are eager to learn I will always be available.

It sounds like WIndows Update is up to date> So Is the only problem you're having now that the Windows Update history is empty?

that is why i need a remote connect to have someone who knows what to do do it.I am still afraid to mess up even with your good explanation. I have messed up so many times on  windows 7 and on 10 i spend more time with   dell and in Geek squad trying to fix my mistakes, I am actually crying here  i know that sound dumb  and petty but That is how I am  when  I mess up something  because of my incompetence. I would have thought you would have gotten tired or  frustrated with me and just said I am not going to help  her anymore

Mary - That's why I said to double click the file, to mount it. See, that explains how to do it. If it isn't clear then ask back.

You'll then see a bunch of files. Right click Setup file to Run as Administrator. This will upgrade to Version 2004, which is only halfway to 20H2 and shouldn't cause the same problems but hopefully will fix your Update history issue if the steps in my first post didn't.

But if you don't want to do this even with my help, then let's go back to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates and choose Check for Updates. What happens? Does it find Updates to install?

I won't let you fail, Mary. I've helped tens of thousands of people in forums, every day for 11 years - during which I've won the highest award in the tech field every single year.
