Repeated crashes and BSOD on ASUS TUF A15

Hello,

Several months ago I bought an gaming laptop, an Asus TUF A15 FA506IV with Windows 10 installed. Everything was fine in the first weeks, but then my computer started to crash and get BSOD randomly, except when I'm playing or using it intensively, which is weird.

I've tried everything, ranging from reinstalling drivers, to a complete reset and windows install.

I've checked RAM, disk and system files integrity, tried multiple repair tools, both Microsoft and unofficial, multiple times, installed every single driver based on Windows Update recommendations/constructor website, even used driver verifier, but nothing has changed since.

The only thing that sometimes changes is the error message of the bluescreen, when there's one. Often the screen only goes completly black, and nothing else happens.

Oh, and I can't show any memory/crash dump since nothing is generated.

Is there anything else to do, or is my computer doomed to be returned to the vendor ?

    I finally solved this problem by uninstalling Armory Crate. It probably installed some buggy drivers, that were removed with Armory Crate. I haven't had a crash for 4 days, while before I had 1-3 every day.

    Hello

    I had the same issue for 2 years now with a laptop similar specs:

    Device name Legion 5

    Processor AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics 2.90 GHz

    Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.4 GB usable)

    GPU RTX 2060

    Motherboard 82B1

    System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

    Edition Windows 11 Home

    Version 22H2

    Installed on 10/‎5/‎2022

    If the laptop is just in idle or if its runing chrome it goes BSOD in 2 or 3 minutes, if the laptop is runing a low demanding game like terraria or stardrew valley it crashes or goes BOSD. However if playing high demanding games like witcher 3 or lost ark it does not crash or BOSD normally.

    I've tried to update every single driver, run all troubleshootings and all that stuff but nothings works. The only 2 solutions I've found so far that works are:

    1. As people have mention here to lower the maximum power state of the processor to 99% on the Control Panel/ Hardware and Sound/Power options/Edit Plan settings/Change Advance power settings. (this solution works if I'm just using only chrome. If I try to play games and use chrome while in this profile it goes BSOD after a few minutes)
    2. This solution is what I use every day since I found out Ryzen 7 4800h has some issues in general.

    First I set the power of the cpu to 100% (If I had it on 99% for some reason) then I open 2 instances of Bluestacks 5 and let them on the background all the time the laptop is on (curiously if I let only 1 instance it goes BOSD after a while)... Now I can open any game or app and will no longer BSOD or crash during the day. bluestacks doesn't sponsor me or anything Is just I noticed this works to keep the cpu stable and don't crash.

    I hope this works for some of you while a real solution with this cpu is found. If someone finds a real solution please share the Step by Step process to fix this constant BOSD.

    I found out the bulk of the issues with my Asus TUF A17 FA706IU (pretty much the same as the A15) was caused by the Mushkin 64GB RAM upgrade. Once I replaced the Mushkin RAM with G.SKILL Ripjaws 64GB nearly all issues vanished. I still have the rare black screen and have to reboot, but it's not at all common. Very livable.

    The only other issue is that the laptop doesn't play friendly with Windows 11: Occasional system freezes, slow downs, etc. System is definitely more buggy with 11 than 10.

    I managed to solve the issue by:

    1. Switching off windows Defender
    2. Used Armoury Crate to switch off discrete GPU (currently using Eco mode)
    3. Updated Virtualbox to 7.0

    I am not sure which one of these helped, but I think switching off Windows Defender Firewall

    to answer your question. the first time i had a stable windows install it was roughly a month where i was stable. i would use it for about 2 hours average in a day but i did not document my steps of fixing it. then i upgrade with a 1tb ssd and started getting bsod again and my windows install that was stable which was on a sata ssd got corrupted since when i popped it back on to clone it. the other windows manager somehow corrupted my start up on it. so it would do a weird start up telling me to fix start up problem which it would keep going back to it. so i just reinstalled windows.

    i did a rough documentation that list my rough steps to solve the problem on my original post. i warn you that i could have just gotten lucky with on or two of the steps and i do not know which one resolved it.
