WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    WaasMedic ran this morning as scheduled Task Scheduler. 'Create Task' to 'Task Completed' 3 seconds so went un-noticed. Week ago same task took 7 seconds. Seems as main problem happens day & half from installing a WUD, happened after March updates & few days ago after Display Adaptor update. Does these mean Microsoft in effect acknowledge there is an issue with updates so WaasMedic becomes part of WUD's and is programmed to run shortly after to sort out any update issues?. To me, evident they KNOW there is an issue - why don't they SORT it instead of applying a band-aid each time.

    MarcHoppe - I'm still on 2004 - not been offered update yet - description contains a dirty word for me -'Preview'. When Previews are available, I have been getting an Error in WUD's with no description of what update is stuck. a reboot will then automatically download & install  a preview with once again no notification of what is being pushed down, Sometimes a manual will find something but only with a choice when you install - not offered as option. Anything other than patch Tuesday downloads creating error except for March when these arrived a day late & auto installed.

    Description of KB5000842 lists about 40 'Issues addressed' but with a few 'Known Issues' - why release if there are 'Known Issues'? - MS digging their own hole which now seems too deep to climb out of, we are poor innocent people suffering. Perhaps though we are not innocent if we are daft enough to have a Windows computer.

    For the last week WaasMedic Agent has been reducing my PC to a crawl. I've checked updates, as suggested, it says I am up to date. Why is there no response from Microsoft concerning this problem?

    After not having the waasmedic issue for a week or so all four of the Windows 10 machines I booted today had waasmedic.exe running for quite some time after start up. That's not a coincidence that's planned activity by Microsoft. Some of the systems are up to date with 20H2 and one is still running 2004 becuase I'm afraid to update it now. Some have third party security software and some are just running Microsoft Defender but they have little in common besides Win 10.           

    That's why Microsoft is not "fixing" the waasmedic issue they're deliberately causing the issue. Something went wonky with Windows Updates early this year and waasmedic is constantly stuck in a planned loop trying to fix it. Yes you can shut it down from Task Manger but it will just come back. Come on Micro$oft get your act together. Remember, Linux is free and quite frankly a far superior operating system.......
