WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Microsoft has teamed up with hard disk manufacturers and created waas medic **** to destroy our hard disks. That's the reason they have no response regarding this issue

    WaasMedic is supposed to solve problems with Windows Updates. Some people seem to be dismissing this as a necessary process. The point is if it finds and fixes problems, why does it need to run again to find & fix problems, this either means it is NOT fixing OR MS are continuing to issue either defective updates or the update process itself is faulty. This is NOT acceptable - yes, sometimes, we all have short term high disc usage but we know what is causing it because we are running something like streaming etc but this is totally under the user control, not something that is induced by an operating system that is not operating correctly.

    Waasmedic has always been scheduled to run in Windows 10. In the Task Scheduler it's set to run next here on April 25th and every seven days. The problem is that earlier this year people started to experience extra long run times for Waas at high disk usage and for some people it runs more often than the seven day cycle. I noticed it making my laptop unusable months ago and did a google search. That's when I found this thread and saw that others are having the same issue. Some worse than others. On this system Waas only runs for a minute or so. On another system it ran for eleven and a half minutes at 100% disk. Something happened to Windows some time at the beginning of this year and you can see that is when this thread was started. Something is wrong with Windows and Microsoft will have to fix it but as we can see here they are completely ignoring the issue. I've been using Linux more and more as Windows has become a pig of an operating system more concerned about mining our data than providing a solid user experience.

    That's not a solution it's a workaround. Microsoft must provide a solution. If you go faffing about in the registry you'll only make things worse. The problem is not that WaasMedic is running the problem is that it's running for so long and for some people so often. It's designed to fix problems not cause them.
