WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    If you want to look deeper into what some of the "internals" do as regards WaasMedic, the blog below provides some useful insights to those technically minded.

    This is an analysis of the UPFC.EXE that seems to be what starts off the WaaSMedicSVC.

    As most who are suffering the system hogging and high disk activity, are saying (quite rightly) that a "system checking and remediation" service like this should NOT be taking over the machine in this way. I think Microsoft still need more information on this, to be able to come up with a proper fix, so if you have any "screenshots" or a Feedback hub trace you can supply when it is happening, then do that if you can. Ideally, this stuff should be running at a lower priority (affinity) than it does, and it should reduce its "run count" per session.

    In case some installed app or program is causing this "spike" in remediation, it might be worth getting the "Diagnostic Data Viewer" from the MS Store, and running it, first using the "Problem Reports" section to get an overview of app hangs/errors, to see if they are coincident with the long run times or hogging by WaasMedic, then look at the "Diagnostic Data" section. In the Search box at the top, put in Waas, and you should see the Microsoft.Windows.WaaSMedic.SummaryEvent set.

    You could upload a typical one to Feedback Hub, to help them diagnose what might be going on. You only need to click on the "Provide Event Feedback" at the top of the viewer, and it starts the Feedback Hub, and fills in some stuff for you.

    Waas was scheduled to run again yesterday every Sunday. I must have missed it yesterday as it's doing the run today. This time it only ran for about three or four minutes as opposed to the 11+  minutes last week. Still I don't know what WaasMedic needs to "fix" every week.

    I spent 2k on a pc I built myself hoping I never have to worry about lagging or anything like that. Now my pc runs like a potato because of the disk being at 100% constantly. If anyone finds out the reason please help.

    Ok I see that WaasMedic is scheduled to run again on April 11th and every seven days after that. If it's running more frequently than that something is definitely wrong. I tried to disable the task on two systems but even an Admin account does not have privilege. I guess the only solution for now is to manually shut it down on the scheduled dates or whenever it runs if it's affecting performance.
