WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Installed May's WUD's. Included again is Windows Malicious Software Tool. Does not appear to work properly - has not removed WaaSMedic !!

If Ms can pry into our computers to STEAL information, then they can do the same in obtaining issues like we are discussing in this thread. So why the need for users to use Feedback Hub, surely would be more useful than them knowing the colour of my under-ware today. Would of thought them STEALING our private information would contravene all International DPA's.

Received May WUD's today, MS Update guide lists 834 items for 2004, last month 2700+ items - why do we need so many items in an update, does this infer that all these items have a previous flaw? (probably MORE after the update). Do MS realise that after 5 months the joke is over now.

This must be a different problem than this thread addresses. I say that because all the resource hogging on my system is on the system drive. During the "bog time" there is NO - as in ZERO - access time or I/O throughput on my internal RAID 10 array, or my external RAID 5 array. ALL disk access is on the system drive, an oversight MS will likely work to "correct". :^{

Sorry, I don’t like people guessing on such forums, but I must, I can only offer anecdotal information. I have seen in other similar situations over the years of my PC hanging. In this case I attribute to a stand alone USB hard drive for backups. My intent going forward is to EJECT the drive before shutting down, hibernating or sleeping. I don’t *believe* Windows likes booting and finding a “missing” drive (or WiFi connection as I learned earlier.

I’ve been waiting 20 minutes to get my laptop started from a hibernation.
