I bought an xbox series x controller (not xbox one) from someone who had an elite and don't need the new controller. I'm sure it's authentic. I can connect it to my windows 10 pc via bluetooth and it appears as an xbox wireless controller.
However in all games it is not recognized as an xbox controller but a generic bluetooth "18 (don't remember the exact number) button controller with HAT" or something. And it doesn't work in any of my games.
Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong? It feels like either the controller is so new windows doesn't know it yet, or I'm missing a driver software, or games need to specifically support it. Anyone has similar experience? Thank you!

Edit: on 11/10/2020 MS updated its Xbox Accessories app which adds Xbox Series X/S controller bluetooth support. All you need to do is to connect the controller with a USB-C cable, open the app, go through a rather lengthy update, and now the controller connected via bluetooth is working perfectly.

Share button will work only if it paired with Xbox Console. In Windows 10 share button is unavailable.

I found some solution for me. For some games I turn on a gamepad only after game is full loaded. Like SW Battlefront 2. But for other games I didn't find any solution.
I have the same problem. I am using Windows 10 LTSC version. and I tried to connect my xbox series s controller via bluetooth. It connected successfully. But the game can't recognize this controller.
Unfortunately no. But I was find a little hack. In some games like a SW Battlefront 2 you must start the game before a gamepad is power on. After game was run get a gamepad is power on and then it recognized by game. This is a magic!
