xbox series x controller via bluetooth not recognized in games

I bought an xbox series x controller (not xbox one) from someone who had an elite and don't need the new controller. I'm sure it's authentic. I can connect it to my windows 10 pc via bluetooth and it appears as an xbox wireless controller.

However in all games it is not recognized as an xbox controller but a generic bluetooth "18 (don't remember the exact number) button controller with HAT" or something. And it doesn't work in any of my games.

Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong? It feels like either the controller is so new windows doesn't know it yet, or I'm missing a driver software, or games need to specifically support it. Anyone has similar experience? Thank you!

Edit: on 11/10/2020 MS updated its Xbox Accessories app which adds Xbox Series X/S controller bluetooth support. All you need to do is to connect the controller with a USB-C cable, open the app, go through a rather lengthy update, and now the controller connected via bluetooth is working perfectly.

My bluetooth device isn't Intel, There is Realtek Bluetooth Adapter 4.2

    What should i do?

I won't be able to be much help much as not familiar with Realtek Bluetooth Adapter 4.2 drivers.

Update to the latest windows, xbox accessories app firmware and Realtek drivers.

The options are not great at the moment.

Unless someone knows if there is a cheap bluetooth adapter to buy.

There are alternatives adapters but will cost £20

Thanks to Renan Spinella one of my good buddy from the DumDumTech youtube channel.

He purchased a generic "CSR 4.0" dongle.  https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51zSnoh1c6L.\_AC\_SX466\_.jpg

    It's cheap from amazon.

    This solves 100% the issue.

I've been trying to get Dragon Age Inquisition to work with my XBSX controller but it just does not want to unless I use the cord. Seems that bluetooth is the issue -- I noticed that, in device manager, there are two types of XINPUT device entries, one for "LE" and the normal one. I suspect that bluetooth LE is the issue, but how to revert it to normal XINPUT?

Sorry been off taking a break, i gathered that most of the compatibility issues is related to the bluetooth hardware. A guy on my youtube site today, said he got it to work by changing the BT to use 4.0 dongle, instead of BT 5.0.

I do not know how to revert to normal XINPUT, under my computer the XBSX controller runs under bluetooth LE.

It depends on which games so far i had one game Elite Dangerous which only works with Mouse and Keyboard not XBSX controller. I guess Elite Dangerous has too many keystokes commands for it not to work under the XBSX controller.

    Good luck dude.

Already done all before, mine shows up with a serial number like you say, but in games like resident evil 4 the gamepad is not well mapped, A button turns to Y button, B doesnt even exist.

In games like Gta V its full recognized with vibration and all stuff without any problem, older games seems that are not recognizing the gamepad and idk how to fix this.

Only newer versions of Intel's wireless adapters can update past 20.100.7.1. It turns out the motherboard I got from Gigabyte that was released just this summer is using an Intel wireless adapter from early 2016 so I can't update past 20.100.7.1............

Try DS y S solution using the CAB DISM install above.

Try to force the install of the driver.
