Been doing it that way since the update came out. Works with all the desktops, not my laptop
My Windows 10 Version 20H2 will not install the update 0x80004005.
Have tried 3 times. Message on update page says it did not install and I may try again. This is not a new install. Have been using for couple of years.

2021-03-08T13:58:35+00:00 I propose a fix that worked for me and presumably many others:
forget the tweaking with useless troubleshooters, dism command or other complex work arounds that all fail
download the windows media tool
https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/software-download/windows10
then run it and update your windows, all apps and software are conserved,
then restart and run the missing system updates,
they all went smoothly on my rig with everything up to date now.
Open a beer and relax!
cheers otto

2021-03-08T12:56:10+00:00 We are just a small fragment of all the Win 10 users, all the others have things working. Therefore we should just shut up with our petty little never ending update problems and look at the big picture just like the morons in the MS development do, it looks good from the statistics point of view, accept that.

2021-03-08T11:23:20+00:00 I am surprised to see that people are still having a problem with this, as am I with my laptop stuck in 1909. I always thought it was just me because I actually work with desktops that i have to update and all 30+ took the update well. Must just be a laptop thing? This needs to be addressed not ignored.
