I've been having crash issues for months now with no solution. I've been able to narrow it down to a windows issue but no solution seems to be available.

At random points during gaming (COD Warzone) the video card driver stops working and then immediately recovers. I get a black screen for around 5-10 seconds and that causes my game to crash. It is extremely frustrating.

I have done clean installs of Windows 10 64bit, tested with both NVidia and AMD GPU's, various video card drivers (up to 1 year old), and various other checks and setting changes.

I'm hoping that someone can please respond to help me figure out what is causing this issue because it is extremely frustrating.

Hey everyone, 

I have finally fixed this issue fixed on my PC. I'm so damn happy 😅

Changing my input from DisplayPort to HDMI resolved it. This fixes the crashing completely, even with two sticks of memory in dual-channel mode at full speed 3200Mhz.

This got me curious, since I saw that using HDMI limits my refresh rate to 100Hz. So, I switched back to DisplayPort but forced it to run at 120Hz instead of the full 144Hz. This also runs flawlessly with dual-channel memory and IMO confirms that 144Hz (combined with certain memory configurations) is somehow the causing the crashes.

I've ordered a new DisplayPort cable to see if it resolves the issue at 144Hz, but even if it doesn't I'll be happy with 120Hz since the 5600XT rarely gets above 120 FPS in games I play at 1440p anyway!

EDIT: Sorry to hear about your new issue Tyler. I am on the latest Window 10 update and AMD drivers (I now have the full AMD Overlay etc installed) and have not run into that problem.

EDIT 2: New DisplayPort cable has the exact same issue at 144Hz. I can live with 120Hz so it's all good and no more crashes :)

    I'd like to ask everyone, what is your gpu vendor/retailer/manufacturer, whatever it's called, is it MSI? My gpu is a MSI Radeon, and a different person who made a thread on Reddit also has an MSI card. Maybe something broke with MSI gpus, although i didn't anything about that anywhere.

    I reported multiple crashes with the AMD Troubleshooting tool that pops up when Overwatch crashes and the drivers recover, however I never directly contacted them with the issue.

    But... My troubles are (hopefully) coming to an end. Yesterday I managed to snag a new GPU on New Egg.

    I really wanted a RX 6800 XT, but I never see them stock.

    So now I'm waiting on a brand new "EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING", my first GeForce after about 15 years using AMD/ATI products (my first 2 cards were GeForce, followed by 4 AMD).

    Needless to say my bank account is crying at the moment.

    I'm still very pro AMD, I wish them the best and I was really looking forward an RDNA2 card, but availability in Canada is inexistant and the crash situation forced me to act swift.

    So I'll probably be off the video card marked for quite some time, hoping the 3080 holds on and performs well for years to come, bar major changes in architectures and game development.

    (And with the likes of Stadia and al., who know what the future of PC gaming will be?)

    Also, I will switch the RX 580 to my son's computer, so if there's crashes, I'll keep you updated.

    I'll also probably change my Ryzen 7 2700x for a 5*00 series in 6-12 months (to gain advantage of PCIe 4.0 since Gen2 doesn't support it).

    All depending on availability, and also if series 6*00 is out and revolutionary.

    My old 2700x will also go in my son's computer, so if that triggers crashes after the switch, I'll keep you posted.

    So as a "swan song", I'll start plugging more USB peripherals and see if crashes occur frequently, and then unplug and see if it's driver related or just a "heat of the moment" thing where it crashes because something is plugged in.

    You'll probably see me comment again in the next days when I'll certainly crash.

    To all, I really wish Microsoft, AMD, Intel, Nvidia or others will manage to find the source of the problem and fix it so everyone can enjoy gaming sessions crash free.

    Already did. There's nothing than 1x G502 Lightspeed and 1x G910 keyboard plugged in. Both are seated in a USB2.0 port. I'm using a B550-A PRO mainboard on latest BIOS version running.

    EDIT: Has anyone ever contacted AMD support regarding this?
