Windows 10 error 0xc1900101 and error 0xc1900101-0x20017 Repeatedly

Have tried so many resets I am surprised the hard drive is no knackered. Clean boots, disabling drivers, changing system configuration to hide all microsoft services and disabling non microsoft all fail with the same error.

I have tried all the things you are told to do by microsoft in their pages and still get the same error. Lenovo wipe their feet and say its beyond their support when asked. Nothing I have been told by any representative here has worked. The only thing I have yet to try is a clean install of windows 10!

The computer is as follows:

Lenovo Ideacentre 310s-08asr amd a9-9245 radeon r5 compute cores 2c+3G

8Gb Memory

860Gb free on hard drive

Razer Chroma keyboard

Windows Defender used no 3rd party

Have been told it is the mcafee boot protection but mcafee has been removed after every windows reinstallation, the mcafee removal tool three times.

The previous update via media creation too i tried update and that failed but gave no error code.

This time i tried the iso file and update and yet again it failed but this time i get error 0xc1900101-0x20017

When i use windows update i just get error 0xc1900101 and nothing else.

In the past i have disabled all non microsoft services and i have also disabled display adapters; Printers, sound, video and game controllers and did a restart and that failed also.

I have tried everything the advisers have said and that failed everytime.

    Have gone into BIOS and now

    Secure Boot is disabled

    Under the Startup option

    CSM is disabled

    Boot Mode is UEFI only (cannot be changed unless CSM is enabled)

    There is no fast boot option

    Would ask lenovo support but when asked about the problem upgrading their response was it was beyond their scope

    So you want me to create a usb stick with windows 10 install on it? and boot to it from reset?

    If this goes wrong to create a system repair disc and use the usb recovery drive i have created previously which i think takes me back to version 1903. The system repair disc is only creatable here to a dvd.

    Dear Graham,I understand that you performed the informed procedures and still did not solve the problem, in which case I recommend the repair with a media before you try to perform a clean installation, follow the steps below:

    I believe you already have a DVD or Pendrive with Windows 10, I will list other steps that may help you. Even if I have a DVD or Pendrive, I will go through the procedures to create a boot device and start it through your computer to try to recover the system.

    Method 1

    First try to access the Bios Setup, activate the UEFI option and disable the Secure Boot and Fast Boot options. To finish, press F10> Yes. If you have questions about accessing Setup, check the equipment manual or consult the device manufacturer.

    Start your computer and check if the behavior persists.

    Method 2

    Download the tool according to the installed Windows 10 architecture. On here: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

    Run the downloaded setup and click Create installation media for another computer;

    Select the Language, then select the edition and architecture according to the installed Windows 10;

    Connect the Pen Drive;

    Click Next;

    Select the USB Flash Drive option and click Next;

    Click Finish;

    When the installation window appears, click Repair your computer;

    Click Troubleshooting> Advanced Options;

    Among the options presented, follow the procedures below:

    Access the System in Safe Mode (Diagnostic Mode):

    Click Troubleshooting> Advanced Options> Startup Settings> click Restart> press the 5 or F5 key to access Safe Mode with Networking.

    Redoing the Windows 10 startup files:

    Click on Troubleshooting> Advanced Options> Command Prompt> enter your Account and enter the commands:

    CHKDSK /R /F X: [Enter]

    Bootrec /Scanos [Enter]

    Bootrec /Rebuildbcd [Enter]

    Bootrec /Fixmbr [Enter]

    Bootrec /Fixboot [Enter]

    Restore the System by deleting everything:

    Troubleshooting> Restore your PC> Remove Everything.

    Note: Before performing the Restore System procedure by deleting everything, we advise you to make a backup of your data. You can connect your hard drive to another computer and transfer your personal files.

    Have carried out everything you suggested previously

    SC config trustedinstaller start=auto

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop bits

    cd %windir%

    Ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    saved as wufix.bat and ran it as admin.

    That being said when i used the media creation tool, using iso file again, using update pc now and choosing to keep everything as before.

    Result was a failure to install new version of windows yet again with the error

    0xc1900101-0x20017

    Will try your second suggestion but i do not hold much hope as i have tried just about everything other than a clean install of windows.

    Will try another install based on first set of things you said first, using media creation tool, then iso then update now option together with keep everything.

    Dear Graham,I recommend making a repair on corrupted files by executing the commands below:

    Press the Windows + X keys, select Command Prompt (Admin), copy and paste the commands below and press enter after each command.

    sfc /scannow

    Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/CheckHealth

    Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/ScanHealth

    Dism/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth

    Restart your computer and see if the problem still exists.
