Edge has been running in efficiency mode whether the switch is on or off for it too. It seems Microsoft really does not care about us as gamers or as builders of computers that do not use a battery. Nor did they care about people running the previous version whose recovery partition was already the size they said it needed to be who kept getting the same update repeating "update failed" over and over. They promised it would be fixed in 3 weeks and 6 months later the issue still existed. If I can get Linux to serve me with more than one browser on my laptop with a CPU that will not work with Windows 11, and all the games on Steam that I have work with it I may no longer be a Microsoft customer in the future.

There is only one problem with your theory. Microsoft does not care if the computer does not have a battery even if we are using Edge. It still operates Edge in Efficiency mode even if the switch for it is turned to OFF. And as a Windows Insider I can tell you I am not the only one who is pissed off about Microsoft giving us updates that we do not need while ignoring the builder community and gaming community.
