Just tested the latest cummulative update in Windows 11 23H2 - no change, it's still broken.
How to re-enable the "Expand to Open Folder" option?
In the "File Explorer", "Expand to Open Folder" option is not working. This happend after updating "2023-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5030310)". How to re-enable the "Expand to Open Folder" option?

2023-11-22T01:12:47+00:00 Yes, it appears that many people are having this issue, as am I. This problem exists on all 4 of my Windows 11 machine, and it also happens if I download a new Windows 11 ISO and run an instance in a Virtual Machine. This is definitely an issue that Microsoft caused as they added/corrected some other function of the Windows Explorer.

2023-11-15T21:18:49+00:00 Nope. Didn't work for me either.
Very frustrating that MS does stupid stuff like this and doesn't bother to respond or give any indication that it will be fixed or not. I have searched and found multiple references to this bug in several threads in MS forums and elsewhere. Yet, no mention at all from anyone within Micrsoft except for clueless, unhelpful responses like instructions as to how to enable the "Expand to current folder" option -- which is insulting because CLEARLY everyone in these threads knows darn well exactly how to enable that option.

2023-11-15T13:17:08+00:00 I forgot adding the "Apply" step. Updated the post.
I did the "Apply". Always do. I did it again anyway, with reboots etc etc, just in case. No luck. :-(

2023-11-15T10:48:04+00:00 Had exactly this.
Selected [This PC], went to [Options].
- Disabled "Expand to Open Folder"
- Clicked "Reset Folders"
- Enabled "Expand to Open Folder"
Then it started working. Hope this helps.
This did not work for me, but thanx for trying. Problem persists. :-(
