I've tried the recommended steps for creating then setting the value for WindowsCopilot to 1, but the AI functions still return.

AI may be the future for many, but it certainly doesn't work on my Windows 10 desktop! Every new "update" that Microsoft forces on me simply cripples my machine further. I need my computer to be a properly working file cabinet with search capabilities - - That's it!
This does not work as my computers do not have HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows. I copied and pasted it into the find feature in regedit.
Chat and AI are annoying and waste my time, make a simple way to turn it off that actually works. Every time you update AI/Chat it is worse. SET IT UP SO I CAN TURN IT OFF EASILY AND HAVE IT STAY OFF UNTIL I MANUALLY TURN IT ON which will be never.
Copilot can be disabled, which is what I did, because I have a subscription to ChatGPT-4, but it cannot be removed, because artificial intelligence is now part of the operating system and, increasingly, part of everyday life. So disable it if you wish, however, I think the better choice is to learn how to live with it, because artificial intelligence, for better or worse, is the future, and no one can escape the future.

Agreed. It is good that Microsoft have recalled the "Recall" feature (for now anyway). There is a big rush for many software companies to use AI as a tool to further monetize their sites (as if we don't get enough advertising already!) but even back in May, Stack Overflow had a big backlash: "Stack Overflow Bans Users En Masse For Rebelling Against OpenAI Partnership".
Generative AI is even more insidious, and I see it creating many more issues, both with Privacy, and Plagiarism, where useful content is monetized off the ideas of others.
