I recently bought a laptop running Win11. Prior to this, I hadn't bought a Windows machine in over twelve years. That last one ran Win7. I liked Win7, so I thought Win11 would be an improvement.

659 errors in the last week. 430 of those are 131: Metadata staging failed...

I've done a clean reboot twice in the past month. I have run countless disk checks, antivirus, downloading and redownloading drivers, etc. All I've been doing since I got this laptop is attempting to solve these problems.

I am unwilling to turn off automatic updates for anything because I will forget to turn them back on, which will invariably create more issues in the future. I am also hesitant to go into the registry to modify anything because my technical skills are poor, and I fear breaking something which cannot be readily fixed. Although my new computer is not experiencing the BSOD or freezing issues reported by some users, fixing these errors has become a compulsion and a prerequisite to doing anything on this computer. I don't want these errors or warnings. I don't think a healthy computer is too much to ask right out of the box. But this experience has been terrible due to my computer being riddled with software issues.

Seeing that this particular error has been ongoing since Nov/Dec of last year (6+ months) with no fix from MS, I can safely say this is the last MS product I'll buy. It's amazing how much they have changed in twelve years.

I stopped this error by turning off auto driver updates. I have manually updated a few with no problems.

This is happened to me too. i already do all suggestions like update drivers, command sfc, chdsk. The problem still happened.

even every PC start , the metadatastaging 131 still occurred.

The annoying part is when i playing games, suddenly all freeze hang. i must press restart button. and when i see event viewer metadata staging failed blabla 131 id.

Please can anyone have the problem, when i start the windows update, the problem still occurred. And one problem when i do windows update is 2024-01 security update 22h2 x64 KB5034441failed to install. is this related to my error??

anyone have the same problem?? please this problem is really suck...
