Windows 11's Right Click Context Menu has got to go.

This is the most terrible, stupid, and annoying thing Microsoft has ever designed into a UI.

They've completely abandoned us power users here, and even normal users.

Get rid of that stupid 'Show more Options' button and give us everything relevant to the element we're right clicking at the start, or give us an option to toggle it off so everyone gets the best of both worlds.

Having to use third party tools to hack up the UI to bring back the Windows 10 context menu is an atrocious bandaid many have been applying to fix this.

What would be even more amazing, which baffles me isn't an easily accessable thing, is the option to EDIT your right click context menu, and to uninstall / disable things that some programs attach to it.

Come on Microsoft.. at this rate, Windows 12 will be the curse of the computing world.

    The text as written does NOT function.

    This is the one that has problems.

    reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f

    The correct version is:

    "reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d /f"

    The quotes need to be at the beginning and the end. After I made the modifications, the problem was resolved.

    Maybe you entered the command at a PowerShell prompt instead of a Cmd prompt? That would result in a error.

    The command you posted as being correct (the one with quotes at each end) will produce this error at a Cmd prompt:

    The system cannot find the path specified.

    At a PowerShell prompt, it will echo back that string but not do anything.

    The command posted by EmilyS726 is correct for a Cmd prompt, but the /d "" part is superfluous and it should be run in a normal Cmd console. There's no need to Run as Administrator and that will result in the wrong profile being changed if your account is a Standard user.

    The command can be simplified to the following and should be run at a normal Cmd prompt:

    reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /f

    Hello, this is Emily.

    I echo you, having a toggle would have been nice from Settings.

    For now, to show those options by default will have to go through registry.

    You can run your Command Prompt in admin mode, then run this command:

    reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f

    Then restart the Explorer or Windows.

    That should disable the "show more options" and give you the full list.

    I totally agree with you, Windows has become the main laptop or desktop OS all over the world. But I also wonder why Microsoft workers actually took down previous good works and turned them into stupid innovations. If it weren't for Microsoft Office, I'm sure I would have left Windows since the creation of Windows 10.

    hello emily, the first time i ran the command it came back invalid, i noticed windows was saying type "REG ADD /?" so i typed in REG ADD all caps & pasted your command without the lower case reg add. it worked that time. sneaky windows tryna prevent people from doing that by changing the command... lols
